Delta Dental is delaying providing coverage/a check because they claim my daughter is still on an old insurance plan, which I lost almost 18 months ago. They've reimbursed ** for other claims since this time. I've sent them a letter from my old employer saying she no longer has coverage and they are still denying her coverage b/c they are waiting for a primary insurance carrier that I no longer have. Additionally, every time I call their line they ask for my husband's ID number but it's hard to find what it is on their website. It's like they intentionally confuse customers.Business Response

In September 2023 I filed 2 claims with delta dental. These were at an out of network dentist, requiring up-front payment, with reimbursement checks to be issued by delta dental.I have been told that delta dental has sent 3 separate checks for each claim. No checks have arrived at my address. I do not believe that any checks were ever mailed out. It is abundantly clear from the last complaint I filed that delta dental has the correct address and is able to get mail to my house in a timely fashion, as they sent me multiple response letters within 3 business days. Additionally, every time I have spoken with a representative regarding these missing checks, they have verified my address. For the most recent set of checks, I was told they were "mailed out on January 12th" and that they "should arrive within 30 days." There is absolutely no way that delta has actually mailed out 6 separate checks to me and every single one has gotten lost in the mail. The only conclusion I can reasonably draw is that they have been lying about checks being mailed.I am at a loss for why I have not been reimbursed for my claims. My employer is paying for a service that delta dental is not providing. I am carrying a credit card balance since September for these charges.Business Response

My children are covered by Delta Dental Insurance. One of them started **** treatment on 3/7/2022 and we paid $8,410 to the health provider for the service. We filed a claim (Claim # **************) to Delta and never received reimbursement as expected to date. We also never received any email or mail communications about this claim.I late checked Delta's website about this claim. It said something like "processing exception" (which I don't recall exactly) and no useful information was provided. So, On a day of 2023, which I don't recall, I called Delta and they explained to me that the claim was missing information but they didn't know what information was missing. They promised to find out and get back to me. However, that never happened.On 9/1/2023, I checked the website again. The message was updated to "Benefits could not be determined because of missing/conflicting orthodontic information." However, I didn't specific which information was missing. I called Delta again on the same day, they told me the missing information was: down payment, monthly rate, total length of treatment, total case fee (the last item was already provided in the original claim). The told me that once the claim was re-submitted, it would be processed in 2 to 4 weeks.On 9/5/2023, the service provider resubmitted the claim with the above additional information to Dental. Since then, I saw no further update on the webiste and received zero communications from Delta.On 1/19/2024, I called Delta again, they refused to tell me what happened and why the resubmission was not processed, but simply asked me to file a grievence. Asking customers to do extra work while failing basic responsibilities, promises and communications makes total non-sense.Business Response

Two AARP Delta Dental Insurance Claims for Dental Cleaning that insurance reimbursements were to go to me (the patient) but never received. Dates of Dental Cleanings were:1) August 29, 2023 Amount of Insurance reimbursement should be $68.00. I called them numerous times. They reissued payments twice stating checks are going to correct address but I never receive them.2) January 16, 2024. Amount of Insurance reimbursement should be $68.00. I called on February 21, 2024. Told them I was canceling my insurance with them immediately because I was not going to continue to pay a monthly premium to an insurance company that says they are issuing reimbursement checks but are never received even when they have the correct address. I have no issues getting all other information by mail from them and I know this is not a postal related issue. I also advised them that I would be filing a complaint with the BBB.I would like to be reimbursed by the insurance carrier for these two amounts since I paid the dentist in full, but at this point I am not sure I will ever see that happen.Business Response

my wife was going to have considerable dental work done so to be sure of coverage I called to get a pre-treatment estimate. She was having 5 things done at the same time. when i called( mid-sept 2023 ) I went bullet point, bullet point with the rep. I was told of the percent of coverage for each. I repeated this no less than 3 times to be sure. after she had the work done they then said she maxed out. so instead of expecting to pay appox 3500 per conversation with rep we end of with a 5000 bill. they never once said anything about a *** out at 1000. I tried again to resolve this with no luck. I felt I was not given accurate info if not being deceptive.Business Response

I was informed via mail that my personal data was hacked including my medical data and SSN. Delta Dental in their letter says they were aware of the hack as of June 1, 2023, and that they were aware my data was stolen as of November 27, 2023. I was not informed until the end of January ****. I now have to live with my personal information out in the world for those will ill intent to do what they wish with. Delta Dental is only offering 2 years of monitoring from a company that recently was hacked themselves which is not very reassuring. Two years is not enough time to make amends for treating millions of peoples data with little regard. I try very hard to keep my information safe and for a company that "needs" my data to lose it so ******** is frustrating. There was not even really any apology or acknowledgement. Something needs to be done to stop companies from treating our person information so poorly as this happens all the time and there are no repercussions for them. Please let me know if you need more information from me for any steps taken. Thanks for you time and I appreciate any options offered to deal with this issue.Business Response

On November 22, 2023 I went to the dentist for my cleaning and my x-rays. I received a bill from my dentist for $32.00. I called Delta Dental and the woman I spoke to said it's because I had a third cleaning. I emphatically told her my policy has 3 cleanings a year and she argued with me. She asked if I wanted to file a grievance over the phone, which I did, and said Id hear back in 30 days. Not only did I never hear back from Delta Dental, but I also received another bill from my dentist.I want this taken care of as I should owe nothing at all. Hello. I signed up for this dental insurance company and did not use their services a single time during the year. The company just sent me a letter on January 12 **** telling me that my data (including personal information and password data) was compromised, and that this was entirely the fault of the company. To make this worse they apparently found out about the data breach on June 1 2023. The fact that the company took so long to tell me that my data was stolen is ridiculous. The company also tries to avert blame in the letter and offers no resolution other than "identity protection" from some partner they work with as long as I sign up before April. I want direct contact from the company so they can explain why it took 9 months and offer me a proper resolution to this egregious violation of security rights, due diligence, and frankly respect seeing as it took so long to even notify customers something was wrong.Business Response

Delta Dental is an insurance provider, my ID #************. Services performed by my dentist (**********************) on September 7, 2023 - crown replaced.Delta Dental has denied the claim four times, and most recently I found that they changed the code to a Gold Crown which is not what I received.I have been billed $1,501.15 for the procedure and Delta Dental should pay a minimum of 75% based on the coverage that we have.Business Response

They have received at least 4 different responses from the **************** x-rays, procedure documents, etc.. They continue to delay this and I do not understand how or why. The crown was necessary to avoid a root canal, which would be much more costly.
