I have a Delta Dental PPO Plan. The plan is to be used for any dentist. I went to a dentist who accepts Delta Dental insurance and is listed as being in their referral dental office. The dentist referred me to his recommended implant dentist. After receiving treatment and paying for the services, I filed a claim form provided by the dental office's administrative person with Delta Dental. I received a check for 50% of the amount of the coverage cost for two implants. Because the dentist was not one of Delta Dental PPO's dentists, the 50% balance of the covered service was not paid to the dentist, nor was it paid to me upon my request. It is unfair to have a PPO for any dentist and be required to go to Delta Dental PPO dentist. In this case, Delta Dental profited by retaining the 50% that was not paid to the dentist, and they refused to issue me a check for the amount not paid to the dentist. I was informed that I was only entitled to the 50% paid to me.

Delta Dental is nothing more than a franchise organization. Each state runs its own practice and each one has a different premium associated with it. I moved from ************** to **************. I was told I can't use my dental account in **************. I requested my refund for my premium that was deducted my July payment since I was no living in **************. THAT WAS IN JULY!! They told me they would do it. Today is September 7th 2023. I never received the $36 premium I paid for July. I called today and was transferred four times and spent over 45 minutes on the phone. The end result was I was told that I could no longer get the premium refund. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THE SHADY OPERATION!!!! THERE ARE SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF OTHER DENTAL INSURANCE PROVIDERS OUT THERE THAT DON'T PUT USELESS CAPS ON THE AMOUNT OF COVERAGE THEY'RE GOING TO PROVIDE. I'M SEEING A DENTIST NOW WHO HAS THEIR OWN PROGRAM WITH AN ASSOCIATION IN **************. I PAY $52 A MONTH AND THERE IS NO CAP OF $1500 A YEAR. MY DISCOUNT IS 20% OFF OF EVERY PROCEDURE. I have seen advertising by other dental insurance providers that provide similar programs. Delta Dental has lost its use in the market. Nobody should be doing business with them anymore. ALSO, TRY TO FIND A PHONE NUMBER FOR THEIR CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS. IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! THEY DON'T WANT TO SPEAK TO YOU!!! THEY PREFER YOU PAY THEIR PREMIUM TO THEIR INDIVIDUAL PROVIDERS THROUGHOUT ********** AND COLLECT THEIR INCOME. I CURRENTLY WORK FOR THREE CONSULTING FIRMS AND I'M TRANSFERRED EVERY TWO YEARS TO ANOTHER LOCATION AND THAT'S WHY I'M IN ************** NOW. I CAN ASSURE YOU EVERY ONE OF THOSE COMPANIES I WORK FOR IS GOING TO BE TOLD ABOUT THE SECOND RATE SERVICE THAT DELTA DENTAL PROVIDES AND THEIR CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS HAS LITTLE INTEREST IN FIXING IT.

This company is fraudulent and shouold be prosecuted. The pitiful benefits they pay out for don't even cover the premiums. Do NOT use Delta Dental as your provider!

Absolute worst! Cover little, all providers in my area are dropping Delta and they haven't updated their prices/fees in almost 15 years 1 dental office in my area is in network, because they are HORRIBLE! THEY ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR RIPPING PEOPLE OFF. Absolutely despicable and I will be contacting further and filing complaints accordingly.

Happy with our dental care, but filing a claim is nearly impossible. Delta has a policy to mail in forms, so far 2/3rds of our forms were lost. Denial letters are never mailed, you have to look on line. The one form online was a grievance form, form was missing and had to submit a ticket. Once form was back on line, captcha box would not work, 30 tries and called them, they said "ya, it does not work" Every call provided misleading information, hours are spent on hold and talking with reps. Today I was told form we had rep fill out did not count, we had to rewrite it and mail it. I asked in three emails for the correct address, each time was told, its on the letter I sent. I used the only address, to mail certified and just learned it was not correct. Their business model seems to be based on intentional delay . It should never be this difficult to get a partial reimbursement for a covered procedure

Refused to cover an implant on the grounds that they "do not have a record of extraction and, therefore, it's a defect the patient was born with." They even supplied a conclusion from a "doctor", someone who doesn't know that if the tooth has never existed, the adjacent teeth would move/expand, and the gap would close which would not allow to install an implant. $4K out of pocket.Ironically, this outfit has three entries in bbb, two are accredited and have A+ rating, one is not and has an APPROPRIATE rating F.Shame on you bbb - you lost any credibility!

*********** told us that Delta Dental of California is the worst of all the Dental options. That they have gone way downhill in the past couple of years and now cover almost nothing.

I have never encountered such poor customer service, for any supplier of goods and services, over the last forty years. This organization tops our family chart for lack of support, poor integrity, poor connection between sales promises and results, and follow up.I purchased AARP's dental insurance on the *** plan from Delta Dental of ************, called Deltacare *** Arizona. That insurance restricts you to certain dentists, so they sent me a list and I checked off one that we had near us. The insurance salesman had indicated to us that there are two covered cleanings per year, at zero cost, for each of us (my wife and I, both in our 70s). We had our dental records from our other dentist sent to **********************, our new AARP provider.Upon signing ** in their office for our appointments, we were asked to sign a form saying that the cleanings would be charged at $78 each. I assumed this was BEFORE our insurance contribution, which would bring it down to zero dollars. We then proceeded to have five minutes (tops) with the dentist who made an appointment for a crown with me, but my wife was in great shape. The cleanings themselves were very light. It was the Cavitron device combined with a light rub of dental paste on the teeth, a flossing, and we were out of the chair in 15 minutes. It was NOT, as later described to us, a "deep peridontal cleaning." We were given a bill for nearly $200 at checkout which we argued about but which we paid. These were standard cleanings without the below-the-gum scraping and so on which would be considered "peridontal." I then called and wrote in full detail to Delta Dental. to the woman listed in their document in Alpharetta GA, a *************************, who heads up Quality. Mailed on August 6th. Numerous follow up calls with out success, and letter on Sept 7. Soon after, ******************************** "fired" us for complaining. We think it may have been fraud as it clearly was a normal cleaning billed excessively.

My son recently received an dental surgery purely related to a dental surgery. This was an exposure surgery necessary to prevent abscess and health complications. They have coded this surgery as falling under orthodontic procedures covered under the lifetime individual maximum benefit for orthodontic procedures. I have talked to two reps from DD regarding the fact that this procedure is NOT orthodontic; it is a necessary DENTAL procedure which should receive an 80% coverage. It is a preventative procedure to ensure a child does not develop abscesses. DD is trying to take my monthly contribution to their company and run with it. They are morally unscrupulous.

We have double coverage from both parents' insurance for my 5-year-old daughter. I tried to grievance regarding a denial to replace a space maintainer for my daughter, and it was denied on the basis that it could be done only once every five years. Well, my question is, when approving this type of service to a dental company, isn't Delta Dental making sure that this spacer is strong enough not to come out in a few months? I don't know why we, as consumers, have to go through this when dentists and dental companies should be aware of this, especially with kids that these types of clips can get loss and come out easily. Having double coverage, I don't understand how come it is not covering to get a replacement as it was not even my daughters fault that it came off in a few months.
