Thank you for the opportunity in responding to ********************** BBB complaint. Affirm has reviewed her complaint which states her request of a refund towards a loan by a merchant.

Affirm's records indicate that on June 21, 2023, loan BOFU-1X11 (Order ID: *************** for 2-Year Accident Protection Plan For Laptops & Tablets $100-$199.99, ASUS ****" FHD ************* Celeron N4020, 4GB RAM, 128GB eMMC, Windows 11 Home, Black, L510MA-WS05) processed with the merchant, ******* for $256.93 with loan terms of *****% Annual Percentage Rate (APR) and 12 monthly payments of $25.11.

On August 30, 2023, ****************** contacted Affirm claiming that a refund was owed towards the loan by *******. The agent asked if ****************** had an amount or date that the refund was confirmed for, but ****************** indicated she did not have that information.

On January 15, ****, ****************** contacted Affirm again requesting for the loan to be refunded. She was advised that the loan was outside of Affirm's 60 day dispute window and she was instructed to contact ******* directly. To read more about disputes with Affirm, ****************** can visit our *********** at ********************************************************************

As a result of this investigation, Affirm has determined that ****************** still currently remains responsible for repayment of her loan. Please note that an Affirm loan will charge off to collections once a payment becomes more than 120 days overdue and may be sent to one of Affirms third-party collections partners.

In the event that ****************** has any further questions or concerns, we encourage her to reach out directly via email.

      Date: 01/24/2024

Thank you for the opportunity in responding to ************************ BBB complaint. Affirm has reviewed her complaint which states her request of a refund towards a loan.

Affirm's records indicate that on July 25, 2023, ******************** obtained Affirm Virtual Card loan 3WVG-QVLJ for a purchase with the merchant, ************* in the amount of $260.00. She agreed to loan terms of *****% Annual Percentage Rate (APR) and six monthly payments of $47.83.

On July 26, 2023, the merchant provided a partial refund in the amount of $213.71. ******************** made no payments towards the loan. Subsequently, the loan charged off on December 24, 2023, due to having a past due balance for more than 120 days. The loan was sent to Affirm's partnered, third-party debt collector, ***********. They can be reached by calling **************.

On August 22, 2023, ******************** contacted Affirm requesting for the loan to be fully refunded. The next day, Affirm sent ******************** an email confirming the partial refund of $213.71 and requested for more information with regards to her request.

On September 9, 2023, ******************** contacted Affirm requesting for an update on her request. Later that day, Affirm sent her another email requesting for confirmation from the merchant that the loan was owed any additional refunds.

On October 3, 2023, ******************** emailed Affirm requesting for a follow up but did not provide any evidence supporting her request. On November 8, 2023, Affirm sent her an email advising that per *************'s policy, no additional refunds were owed and instructed for her to contact them directly.

Please note Affirm's obligation as an intermediary for disputes is to conduct an investigation to determine if the merchant is working within their policies and procedures to address issues. However, Affirm's decisions are ultimately subject to the merchant's policies. Affirm is only able to provide any applicable refunds towards a loan once confirmed by a merchant.

We apologize for any frustration this situation may have caused for ********************. In the event that she has any further questions, we ask that she contacts Affirm directly via email.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to ************************ BBB complaint rebuttal. Affirm has reviewed ************************ rebuttal, which states her concerns with the refund amount applied to her purchase that was obtained with an Affirm loan.

It is important to note that Affirm strictly manages the financial portion of the transaction. All matter of returns, refunds, order cancellation, and fulfillment are subject to the policies put in place by the merchant. When a merchant processes a refund towards an Affirm loan, Affirm will credit the loan balance for that amount.

On July 26, 2023, a refund amount of $213.71 was applied to Affirm loan 3WVG-QVLJ. This left the loan with a remaining balance of $52.92. There were no payments received towards the remaining balance and the loan was subsequently charged off on December 24, 2023, after having an overdue balance for 120 days.

Without specific evidence indicating a refund is due, or that the merchant is operating outside of their set policies, Affirm is unable to issue a refund.

To date, the evidence provided by ******************** has not been sufficient enough to indicate additional refunds are due, or that the merchant is operating outside of their set policies. As such, Affirm must encourage ******************** to work with the merchant directly regarding her request for additional refunds towards loan 3WVG-QVLJ.

In the event that ******************** has any further questions, we ask that she contacts Affirm directly via email.

I purchase a ******* microwave from ******* and I opened a line to credit with afirm to pay for the microwave. Within 4 months the microwave stopped working and I was unable to activate my ******* warranty because the microwave was still under the manufacturer warranty. I contacted ******* about the issues setting them photos and the video and the receipt from wal-mart. They refuse the receipt from ******* because I use an affirm credit line. They said that they are willing to give refunds to people who use **** Mastercard or **************** but they will not give refunds to people who use a firm unless they are finished paying off their credit line. That is discrimination as the credit line from a firm is no different from the line of credit that is given by **** Mastercard or **************** companies. They do not require them to show that their line of credit is paid off before honoring the warranty and therefore they should not be asking me to show my billing activity either. My billing and associations with the firm are none of their business they only need to verify that wal-mart the retailer has been paid. A firm is not owned by ******* and therefore a firm has paid for the unit I'm given ******* their money therefore the unit has been paid in full to ******* and that is the only business ******* should have. I have recordings of phone conversations with ******* verifying their discriminary practices
