In June 2023, BBB investigated Ocean View Medical Clinic's business practices. This investigation was prompted by a customer review received by the BBB. The consumer alleged the business misrepresented the success rate and amount of treatments needed to achieve results. Also, the consumer reported to BBB that the business is difficult to contact and is closing or moving to a different location.
 
On June 15, 2023, BBB sent the company a Business Practice Inquiry through postal mail and to request the following information:
-How does the business determine the total amount of treatments needed, in order to achieve results?
-A copy of your sales script used at any time in the last 30 days
-Provide a list of all fees and costs for the treatments.
-Your refund policy, in the event that the consumer is not satisfied with the results, or feels no results have been achieved, or is unable to finish the treatments.
-A list of all your current and past affiliations with other companies and/or subcontractors, along with their addresses
-The business’s current contact information, including phone numbers, email addresses, and mailing addresses to all locations.
-A list of all medical staff and their license numbers with the California Medical Board that administers the shockwave treatment. 
 
As of June 26, 2023, the business has not responded to BBB's request.

The business' website is still operational but states they are closed. The website recommends contacting the financing company to request the plan to be reversed for services not rendered, or request a chargeback from your financial institution, if you paid by credit card.

Consumers with outstanding concerns are still encouraged to file a complaint for BBB records, but may also wish to file a complaint with the Medical Board of California, contact their local Attorney General's Office, and/or get legal advice and/or take legal action.
