I was contacted by Brightside solutions to manage my growing credit card debt. After a lengthy conversation with them decided to do it. Now before this never late on my credit card bills nothing but had quite a bit of debt after divorce and such. Well whole time Im assuming these debts are being taking care of and negotiated and it wasnt until almost 6 months from completing program I get a notification from a creditor that Im being sued. At that point I sent email to my person and started doing my own research of this company and lo and behold Im not the first person this has happened too. They promise to negotiate your debt and you are only going to pay half of original cost with them blah blah blah. Needless to say that has not been happening and now they want to act like oh we are not a debt consolidation company we just negotiate but that is not what I was told at all. The best they can do is cancel my contract and no more money will come out which is insane. All ***** kept telling me is that I misunderstood so I said me and half of the rest of your clients correct. Then when ask who should I have my lawyer contact now all of a sudden Im not the one handling your account *** is. I run a business myself so I know that you cna pay to be in good standings with BBB but if anyone else is contacted by them run and never look back a total scam and lie. I am filing a complaint against Briteside Solutions for deceptive business practices, misleading information, and failure to deliver promised services regarding their credit repair program, potentially violating federal and state consumer protection regulations.I enrolled in Briteside Solutions credit repair program, paying over $8000, expecting assistance in resolving and improving my credit. However, the services provided left me in a worse financial situation. I now have collections on my credit report, severely affecting my credit Additionally, I faced three lawsuits and now need to pay back all disputed accounts, costing me thousands.I believe Briteside Solutions engaged in deceptive and misleading practices. They misrepresented their ability to resolve my credit issues, resulting in significant financial harm. Their failure to deliver on their promises constitutes a breach of contract and deceptive business practices under consumer protection laws, specifically the Credit Repair Organizations Act and potentially the ************************ Act.I feel scammed by this company. They promised to improve my credit, but instead, I am left with more debt and unresolved collections. I am extremely dissatisfied with the service provided and the false promises made by Briteside Solutions.I am seeking a full refund of the $8000 paid to Briteside Solutions for their credit repair services, as well as compensation for the approximately $10,000 I now need to spend to resolve my credit issues. I also request they take immediate action to remove the disputed accounts from my credit report and correct any negative marks they caused.I hope the BBB can assist in resolving this matter. The service I received from Briteside Solutions has been highly unsatisfactory and caused significant financial hardship. the promise to help me with mounting debt although they did say they were different from other debt companies which help settle, they promised me legal back up and i now have three suits for which one i have paid off. they also say they would save me money the savings goal is ***** and so far they have saved me ***** I have since learned many things in regard to debt. They can keep going to different collection agencies and that nj state laws are 6 years so the apparent two year payment is not the whole pciture. It appears to me they just delay the payment and it looks like my savings is an illusion.they say we do education, granted that is fine but the presentation is presented to make you believe that if you stay the course, it will turn out Please read before you sign. We disagree with what the client has accused Briteside of doing. We are very diligent with the enrollment process and specifically ask clients at the end of each enrollment their understanding of the program before finalizing the enrollment call. During the clients time in the program, the extent of what we do and the expectations when certain events occur were explained in detail, but somehow was still interpreted as something else, and In light of customer satisfaction, we have reached out to the client and have resolved this issue to their satisfaction.Initial Complaint

I paid BriteSide Solutions to help me out with my debt and they were not able to dispute it. I started with them back on March 17th 2023, and I have been paying them ****** every month until June of 2024. I called them and they told me I would be getting back everything I paid into the program. Turns out they kept 900 back for services according to the contract that are labeled as education services and paper filing, but I was not educated in the least and as far as I was told they were primarily going to digital filing and not paper. All I want is my 900 back and to be done with this.Business Response

We have conducted a thorough investigation into the claims from this client and found that we have provided the services pursuant to our contract. Within the scope of financial restoration is to provide financial education, monthly appointments to review budgeting and spending tracking, credit monitoring, and credit analysis, to name a few. This business claims that they worked hard for the amount of money they were payed for “services” and they gave a list of such “services” in their response to my complaint. But whenever I’m doing most of the heavy lifting with receiving things in the mail, sending things to the business via text, and basically following orders blindly, all while not being told what they are doing on their end. Also being contacted every month with the same basic response of, “have I received anything else,” or “usually we don’t see anything like this happening right away,” oh yeah riveting conversation every single time. If I could condense the actual “services” they provided, it would be in fact the outsourced legal help and maybe the credit monitoring, but honestly anyone could go to a credit check website and see what their score is. So yeah, to say I’m not pleased with this business’s response would be nothing short of an understatement. But also trying to call me into getting a better review from me, that was ridiculous on their partBusiness Response

We have also provided legal services in order to further assist him, in addition to coming up with a resolution that is more than fair to the client. first and foremost, I mentioned that this business gave me legal help in the response before, and the claims I made about this business are in fact true. Why else would a business try to contact someone to try to “explain why things have happened” other than to resolve or get a better review. Yeah I want this to be resolved as well, but the very fact that I got told that I would receive every bit of money I put into this business just to have 900 dollars skimmed off for services that they claimed to work hard for when I did everything but the credit monitoring and legal help, I would have been in better circumstances if they would have told me from the beginning that I was only getting back 1903 instead of 2778. But because they withheld that information I will not let this go. It is poor business practice to keep information from your client and only doing the bare minimum. I was told that they would help resolve my credit card debt, I was told to pay them a set fee based on the debt I had which after 3 years if I paid them my debt would be gone. In the wording the agent had given it seemed as if it was a consolidation service, I was told not to make any payments on any of my cards and if I got a letter to send it to them and they would handle any debt. Everything appeared to be for debt consolidation, they even put a loan on my credit which had in it's name "consolidation" for the amount I owed in Credit Cards, then when my fiance started looking into it,over a year into my payments, he found out it wasn't a consolidation service and that they weren't helping me pay anything, just taking my money to send a simple dispute letter to the creditor which I could have found online for free. I'm on Social Security and I feel targeted since I was paying out over $250 a month and struggling to pay it only to find out nothing was done for my credit, I wasn't even provided any informational services which apparently is all they offer as per their website. I talked to **** who was the supervisor for the area I lived (*****************) and when my fiance asked him a few questions he told my fiance he was probably the one that got me into debt and that it was essentially stupid for me to not read the contract and that I should have read what I was going to sign. I don't even remember signing anything, it was just a few checkboxes. **** went on to tell me it was a bad decision to pay off my debt as I was going to "give the banks more of my money" and even mocked my fiance, calling him Mr. ****** for stating that several of the things they were doing which was against the Consumer Protection Act that the business is based off of. This whole business needs to be seriously investigated because even though it has the **** Act on their website no one working there has any idea about it and are actively going against it.Business Response

I was contacted by Briteside Solutions about debt consolidation. My husband was already enrolled into a program with another company. The Briteside sales rep convinced us to cancel his program with the other company and get a refund because he said that the other company was a scam. We believed the sales rep and did as he suggested. He said that we should have no issues getting the refund because they had not yet settled any of our accounts., which we were able to get. We were told that we would pay the agreed "settlement amount" and then all of the debt would be gone. We were told that most creditors don't meet the federal requirements for legally collecting unpaid accounts but that if we were sued, then their legal team would assist us. Well we have been sued by two separate accounts. The first time, they removed that amount from the total "settlement amount" and said that the legal team would assist us with the lawsuit. We had one brief conversation with a paralegal , who didn't seem to do anything to assist. After that, we could not get anyone from the legal team to even call us back. We have now been sued a second time and are facing bankruptcy. We tried to cancel the service and request a refund. We have now been told that we are not due a refund. After reading all of these complaints, I have not realized that they never intended to resolve our debt. They purely plan to collect over $31k from us with absolutely NO SERVICE being rendered at all. We are waiting for a call from ****************** If we do not receive a refund, then we will be suing, even if we have to sell our home to pay for it.DO NOT listen to their sales people. Believe me, they are very good. My husband and I are both in sales and were both fooled by them.Business Response

I signed up for their credit repair service. They told me right stop making payments and then they would dispute the debts when I started to get letters. I was guaranteed at the end of the program to have at least a 700 credit score. We will hit our 2 year **** in july of 2024 and our creodt score has increased 15 points and we are still well south of even a 600 credit score. After more than a year and paying $486 a month I've been sued and had to make a settlement to keep from going to court. On their website it states no long term commitment but I was told that I agreed to a $11,000 loan that would have to be paid back regardless if I stopped services. This has been nothing but a burden on us and the pathetic 30 minute phone call once a month does absolutely nothing right help with increasing my credit score. We are struggling to pay basic bills and Brightside but again we were told we took put a loan so we feel lied to and stuck. I wish I could go back and never sign up. Their sales people promise the world and deliver on none of it.Business Response

We received a debt consolidation loan advertisement in the mail April 2023. We applied got turned down but then the consultant said they had this secondary option briteside solutions we heard their whole sales pitch and were desperate to find any solution and enrolled thinking it would work out fast forward January 2024 we unenroll after 10 months of nothing getting resolved on their end oh it got disputed just to receive more letters from the companies that got disputed and wasted monthly phone calls and out over $4,000 of the +$9,000 the whole program would be. Bankruptcy wouldve cost less than constantly paying just to be threatened to be sued following their advice. They are not a solution theyre a gate way to worse credit.Business Response

I could mirror exactly what the previous complaints listed on this website are stating. This program is a complete scam, they severely over promise and under deliver. I was told that it is EXTREMELY RARE to have a company come after you or to *** you. They claim that you will end up paying half of what you owe and that you need to go through a legal process and dispute your debt. Only to find out its a shady practice! I was made to believe everything was normal and that this was a very common thing that people do, I was blatantly lied to. After receiving multiple summons now that are way higher in dollar value than my initial debt, its been a massive step backwards. Now that Im asking for a refund to pay back creditors to avoid this situation-they are claiming I cannot have my money back unless Im ***d. Im irate and feel completely take advantage of. I want a full refund and compensation for the extra money this has cost me. I feel forced to find a lawyer and raise h*** because I see this is affecting many others like myself. We contacted this company for debt relief in Jan 2022. The made promises to have us out of debt within 2-3 years with a better credit score. Told us to stop paying our accounts and when they went to collections they would take them over and handle them. I explained to the numerous times due to my job and my clearance I could not have any type of court orders or negative impact on my credit and they said don't worry that will not happen. I received my first summons last year in April. I had to pay almost 3000 up front to keep it from going to court and receiving a judgement. They said that hardly happens. Fast forward my husband just received a summons for court and I just received paperwork from a lawyer. I was told to call the lawyer myself and they told me basically I would have to come up with 4800 to avoid it going to court. My question is if they aren't paying my creditors where has our almost $9800 went to. And if I knew they weren't going to settle my accounts and pay them like they stated and I was going to be sued I would have never used them. A 30 min phone call a month isn't worth this service they provide because I'm not sure what they provide.Business Response
