  In July 2020, it came to BBB's attention from consumer complaint activity that the business website is closing down and no longer allowing access to client accounts. The website states the business will be deleting files not retrieved by July 24th, 2020.
  BBB received a pattern of complaints filed against Dropshots concerning billing and service issues. Recently, complaints also state the business website is shutting down with no access for clients to retrieve their files, despite lifetime memberships already paid for.
  
  In July 2020, BBB contacted the business to find what they plan to do for existing clients even after closing down.
  
  In August 2020, the business replied to advise of their position:
  
  "We have received complaints from Dropshots.com users who were affected by the loss of one of our storage servers and backup servers as well as the planned closing of the site. Unfortunately we can't control everything and when we lost the servers it caused some users to lose some of their data. We have been trying to restore this data and some users were able to recover their data but we have had some issues with other accounts.
  
  In addition, we made the decision to close the site as photo sharing is no longer an interesting subject for users when they can use Google, OneDrive and many other solutions for storage AND sharing. Dropshots was never designed as a storage site but rather a sharing site and our terms and conditions clearly spelled this out.
  
  We are doing everything we can for affected users and will until the site is officially closed. We are considering extending the closure date for another week to allow additional time to download their photos.
  
  One last note, while we have helped to operate the website it is owned by a company in Vietnam and ultimately we work with them to assist users. I hope this helps and we have been as responsive as possible."
