The claims process was terrible and just went on and on. It is very difficult to get a phone call returned. The company does not want to pay claims and will spend more money than the amount of the claim to try to avoid paying. Avoid at all costs.

Dropped me after year with no claims because suddenly my house is a fire risk. (It's not, and nothing about my risk has changed in recent years)

Worst customer service ever! I wouldnt even give one star to them. I would tell everyone to stay away from Hippo Insurance. For any insurance company it comes down to its claims department and their willingness to work with you in a timely manner. I had Hippo insurance from 2021 with no issues, until I came across an unfortunate and unexpected accident on n my home and had to file a claim. It started the claim in June and it went well over 2 months only because the insurance adjuster was extremely slow in responding or even processing to the next step. There is no way to reach out to the insurance adjuster except for a telephone extension number which he would never pick up even after leaving several voicemails. They do not have a direct email address to contact. When I tried reaching out through customer service to escalate my concern, the manager of the insurance adjuster had the audacity to tell me that there is nothing they can do because they have a lot of claims to process and they will get back to me whenever they can find time. Also, that they have a lot of claims to deal with and cannot provide individual services. Extremely rude and disrespectful! If they have a workload issue may be they need to bring it to their management and not take it out on clients! My case is still pending after 2 months and all repairs are still waiting to be completed because they dont want to pay the customers their rightful claims to complete the repair work. Do not ever fall for their scam of charging less in premium because they will never be available to help you when you would need it! Disappointed and frustrated!

If I could give 0 stars I would. Worst company. My mortgage payment went up 2 separate times (we have a 30yr fixed loan) home insurance included in monthly payments. When I called to see why, then had signed me up, ( without my permission) to coverage for artwork ( which I am fresh out of ********) I can't afford real artwork let alone paying 1000 in extra ccoverage. Then they had me paying to cover our tvs and game systems ( all of which was without my permission and knowledge) and all the tvs and game consoles are WAY put of date! Then this second time I noticed they added coverage for jewelry which doesn't exist in my house and also for home office and computers. No need for coverage of any of that. My monthly payment went up over $100. When I attempted to call to speak to agent and ask why that was added, I was answered by a what sounded like put of county phone service. They stated that I wouldn't be able to speak to a agent for ***** hrs which is absolutely insane. Called back to speak to someone else and was told again that a real agent has to call me back..this time 72hrs from now. Unbelievable. I feel for anyone who may be experiencing an emergency and needs to speak with them. Good luck..waiting for a quote and will be switching immediately. 1935 per year is disgusting. Worst company. Can't understand what anyone says. Horrible. Robbers. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS. THEY ARE SALESMEN!!! NOT AN INSURANCE COMPANY!!!!

Hippo lured me away from a company I had for many years with a quote half the price. Within a year, the premium jumped 50%. By four years, it had doubled. I am in ********** so I understood the rate hike, just did not appreciate the bait/switch. Now, they are non-renewing me when I live in a residential area. If I had stayed with my original company they would not have dropped me as Hippo is doing. They destroyed my chances of maintaining regular homeowner's insurance with their irresponsible "deal" luring people away from ******** and State Farm, who are sticking by loyal customers in the face of the wildfire problem. They are not writing new business but a least are not dropping premium-paying customers. If you live in **********, do Not switch from your current carrier to Hippo. Stay where you are, if you've been with your company for a number of years, even if it's more expensive. Also I once asked for added liability and it increased my premium by $4. I never received a follow up bill, only a cancellation notice - for $4. I paid it and was able to keep my policy but only for this past year. Bad, bad, Hippo.

Hippo couldn't sent a cancellation notice at a more convenient time. I live in ************* and they sent a cancellation due to "Reduction of high hazard relative exposure to catastrophic events." I'm worried that no other companies will pick me up. This is really unfortunate as hurricane season has just started. I've never even filed a claim with them. I don't know what I'm going to do.

We had to file a claim in December, 2022 for a pipe that broke during a freeze. We have been fighting with them since then to have our claim settled. We provided all documentation as requested. They know how to play the game. They have 45 days to settle unless they request more information. So, they wait until the 44th day and send you an e-mail asking for something that you've already provided. They keep doing that for months at a time - in our case nearly a year. As of July 2024, we still have no resolution. We are out 50+ thousand dollars out of pocket for repairs. Run, don't walk, run the other direction if this company is recommended.

They cancelled us in attempt to raise our rates and we ended up going with a local company. Twice the coverage for almost 1/2 the price.
