The Whatnot auction site and selling platform is denying me buyers protection based on what they believe, though with zero evidence, refund abuse/fraud. When the refunds were requested, I provided clear evidence of wrongdoing on the part of the sellers (e.g. missing items, misrepresented items, and damaged items). Per their policy, I provided clear photographic proof of the issues that warranted the refunds, all covered by their buyers protection policies. The refunds were automatically issued, however, afterwards, my account was flagged for refund abuse/fraud. In my numerous attempts to contact Whatnot support, Ive been denied the opportunity to speak to, and have my account reviewed by, an actual human being. Ive been, instead, subject to email loops with an AI system that refuses to escalate my issue to a human support agent. Their supposed support email support@whatnot is a dead email address that provides no response (and is indicated to be completely unsupervised). During this time, I am being completely blocked from receiving a refund on any future order, even with clear evidence of issues in my orders that all fall under their buyers protection policy. I was recently denied a refund for an order whose tracking clearly indicates that the package was never shipped by the seller, let alone delivered. To deny me buyers protections based on an automated system, and to prevent me from escalating the issue to a human support agent, has me believing that my right to a fair transaction is being denied. I received no formal warning from Whatnot regarding any policy violations, nor abuse or fraud suspicions, and was completely blindsided by this. Ive tried in vain to get a human support agent to personally review my case, as well as evaluate my account activity, and instead am hit with constant email loops of AI generated responses that are not addressing the issue nor escalating it to a satisfying outcome.Initial Complaint

Im making this complaint cause Ive had one of my most horrible experiences ever dealing with this company so one of my friends recently introduced me to this new site called whatnot Ive only been a member about a month and in that time I have had 5 separate situations From being suspended on the first day cause I won a giveaway to sellers not sending products to orders being canceled without explanation and the latest and most concerning sending customers counterfeit merchandise which is my reason for this complaint *** had so many issues with this company Ive been forced to contact their customer service over and over who are not helpful at all and only provide what seems like scripted automated responses and Ive just had enough receiving counterfeit merchandise was just the last straw for me I recently purchased a ****** ***** authentic merch T-shirt I asked the seller numerous times during the stream if the products that he was selling were authentic, he assured me and other customers on the stream numerous times that all his products were 100% authentic however that is far from the truth when I received my T-shirt I immediately notice that it wasnt authentic as it had half a tag sticking out with original labeling from a gliding T-shirtand the tag have been cut with scissors to try to hide this it was just a plain gliding T-shirt with the cactus **** ****** ***** logo ironed on to the T-shirt when I confronted the customer service with these details they were extremely unhelpful, very disrespectful and rude and refuse to help me even after I sent them pictures and proof within a few hours of my last response to this company, informing them that I was filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I began to notice all kinds of retaliatory actions and attacks against my what not account I think customers out there needs to know that this company is not trustworthy and they need to be extremely careful when making purchases or dealing with this appInitial Complaint

I requested a refund for a bundle of clothing that had blood stains on it and was denied the refund request because I had returned too many items all the items I have returned have had stains or holes which is stated on the return policy as a acceptable return. Blood stains are a biohazard and it shouldnt matter how many refunds I have requested if the items I recieved were damaged. I have bought more items than I have been refunded for on this app and this is unacceptable.Initial Complaint

Complaint Summary:I am filing this complaint against Whatnot due to their failure to uphold their Buyer Protection Policy and Terms of Service in connection with a recent transaction that was impacted by auction manipulation (commonly referred to as "shill bidding").On 06/14/2025, I participated in a live auction on Whatnot where I bid on several items, spending over $500 across two streams. During the stream, the moderator for the seller openly admitted in the public chat that they were intentionally bidding against me to drive up the price, stating: I was just trying to upbid referring to upbid me. The seller acknowledged this comment, I acknowledged it, and the entire exchange is publicly visible in the chat logs. This behavior is a direct violation of Whatnot's own Terms of Service, specifically the sections prohibiting price manipulation and interference with fair auctions. It also violates their Buyer Protection Policy, which clearly states that buyers are eligible for refunds when transactions violate community standards or the platform's terms.Despite providing undeniable evidence including timestamps and chat logs Whatnot has refused to take appropriate action, review the case fairly, or issue a refund. Their customer support has repeatedly dismissed the situation, despite clear proof of auction manipulation that undermines the integrity of the transaction. These are the orders in question:405133320 ********* ********* ********* ********* ********* ********* ********* ********* ********* ********* *********Initial Complaint

I had an order that never shipped so WhatNot SAID they provided me a refund. This is untrue. ****** stated they refunded me by e-check and that it was pending and if I didnt get the money in 5-7 days contact WhatNot. Well, the check did not clear therefore they stole my money. I emailed them about this and never heard a word back. Previous to this, they flagged me as a fraud because there system detected I was asking for too many refunds. I have a shopping problem. I buy several things a day almost all day. The number of refunds given is small in comparison to how much I buy. They let me know each time I needed help for a bad order or didnt receive, they told me after the fraud detection situation, they would no longer be helping me.Since I filed a chargeback with my bank they have disabled my account. Which is fine. I shouldnt be on it for my own good, they have awful customer service, and their practices I believe are illegal.Since they disabled my account I can not see my open orders to make sure I receive them all. I have no way of remembering all I ordered! So basically WhatNot could be stealing my money because how do I know so got all my packages! I want a list of all my orders and tracking numbers.I wish nothing from this other than a copy of all my orders and tracking. I just want to warn others. Hopefully the app someday will get shut down.Initial Complaint

This business (**********) is an independent business that sells bamboo clothing and blankets valued at $15-$50 on a bidding app called Whatnot. The seller makes a cover picture for her sales, saying she is giving away a free wagon valued at $600. She claims this every single show that she has. I bid on a small blanket at the end of her show as she alluded to the fact that this one was the one who would get the wagon also. The wagon had not been given the whole show before this. I, however, only received the blanket, which should not have cost more than $50 max. I paid $177 for it because so many people bid, thinking they were getting the wagon if they won in addition to the blanket. I contacted her several times, and she will not refund me or return the blanket. I also contacted the app support, and they redirected me to Sugar Swan and don't take any responsibility. Again, her shows always claim that someone is getting a free wagon ($600 value). She is baiting people into coming to her shows, bidding high, and buying her items, thinking they are getting a chance at a wagon valued at over $600. No one actually wins the wagon! The company is clearly baiting and switching people with a false giveaway.Initial Complaint

I was charged $220.60 for a transaction May 27. (Interest until it was paid was $223.80)I was in the middle of filing out the buy now to purchase a plant through an Affirm loan through their auction platform. Before I could finish purchasing, someone else purchased it and it therefore sold out. The affirm must have gone through at the same time but the other person won the plant. It did not go on my account and I did not get the plant. I paid the affirm loan so I wouldnt have anything outstanding as I had some extra cash at the time in June. I asked Affirm for a refund and they told me it was something Id have to follow up with Whatnot. I reached out to what not multiple times. They told me there was nothing they could see that was fraudulent. I also asked for a screenshot for that date that showed I made any purchase. Ive yet to hear back from them. Ive let them know I was following up with BBB. Ive always gotten great customer service from ********************** so this is disappointing that they wont provide a refund. Im including photos from my conversation with Affirm showing the whatnot transaction ID, the affirm loan that was paid, and screenshots from whatnot from 5.24-5.28 that shows there were no transactions of that amount. Ive asked them to show me where I made a purchase for that amount without success.Initial Complaint

I purchased 5 separate items altogether totaling $168.00 from one sellers show (KKWHOLESALE). The seller never shipped my items. I submitted a claim within 48 hours when I saw that the seller did not ship my orders. Whatnot sent an email stating they were "researching my claims". It has now been 5 weeks later and Whatnot refuses to process my refunds and there is no alternative method of contacting anyone to resolve this issue and get my money. I consider this theft of behalf of the seller and Whatnot. I have proof the seller never shipped my items and Whatnot has my money. If a customer pays for an item and it was never shipped, much less never received, that is theft of funds. I plan on filing suit against both the seller and Whatnot if this issue isn't resolved by July 5th, 2025 as well as legal recourse with respective authorities.
