• Advertising Review:

  On September 12, 2023, BBB Serving Los Angeles and SiliconValley requested that the business substantiate, modify, or discontinue claimsadvertised on thecompany’s websites, https://www.youknowmejerome.comand https://www.socalhomeimprovement.net. The business advertiseswarranties, guarantees, and images under the company’s portfolio thatBBB was unable to verify as the company’s work. BBB also requested that thebusiness update their websites to include their Contractors State License Boardnumber and privacy policy.

   

  The Foreword to the BBB Code of Advertising states, “In allinstances, advertisers, agencies and media should also be sure that they are incompliance with local, state, federal and provincial laws and regulationsgoverning advertising.” 

  The BBB Code of Advertising states, “1.1 The primaryresponsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with theadvertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claimsor offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they shouldpresent such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.”

  The BBB Code of Advertising also states, “20.1 When using the term“warranty” or “guarantee” in product advertising, the advertiser must clearlyand conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warrantycan be seen prior to sale at the advertiser's location, viewed on theadvertiser’s website or, in the case of mail or telephone order sales, madeavailable free on written request. 20.2 Advertisers should only use“satisfaction guarantee,” “money back guarantee,” “free trial offer,” or similarrepresentations in advertising if the seller or manufacturer refunds the fullpurchase price of the advertised product or service at the consumer's request.20.3 When “satisfaction guarantee” or similar representations are used inadvertising, any material limitations or conditions that apply to the guaranteemust be clearly and conspicuously disclosed. 20.4 When advertising “lifetime”warranties or guarantees or similar representations, the advertisement mustclearly and conspicuously disclose its intended meaning of the term “lifetime.”20.5 Sellers or manufacturers should advertise that a product or service iswarranted or guaranteed only if the seller or manufacturer promptly and fullyperforms its obligations under the warranty or guarantee.”

   

  The BBB Code of Advertising also states,“21.1 The composition and layout of advertisements should be such as tominimize the possibility of misunderstanding by the reader. 21.1.1 For example,prices, illustrations or descriptions must not be so placed or displayed in anadvertisement as to give the impression that the price or terms of featuredproducts or services apply to other products or services in the advertisement,when such is not the case.”

  Whilethe business initially cooperated with BBB by discontinuing advertised claimsto comply with our requests, as of May 2, 2024, the business has failed tosubstantiate, modify, or discontinue all claims brought to it’s attention.
