I hired Tax Relief Advocates(TRA) in April of 2024 to refile multiple years of tax filings. I have paid an enormous amount of money both up front and every month since. To date they have not accomplished anything as they promised. In addition they do not call me back or acknowledge when they get the requested documents. They hound me with repeated request for documents that have been provided months prior. It is clear that this company takes advantage of peple in dire tax situations and compounds their problems by delaying and adding more debt to the situation. I strongly urge everyone to find a better, more reputable and honest company to handle their tax issues. This company uses heavy advertising and false promises to ******* the unknowing victims. I was going to use this service to help me with the ***. I paid $26,000 and cancelled within the three day cancellation period. I have not been able to get my money back or get anyone to take or return my call. They claim to have sent it to my bank account, but it has been over 30 days and it has not arrived.Business Response

I notified the company in June that I wanted to cancel my services with them. They withdrew the July payment from my account for 300 dollars which I want reimbursed immediately. This company failed to resolve the issue, gave the *** information that was not accurate, would not provide me updates or information, and made the situation worse than when I hired them. the whole process with this company has been horrible and nothing but lies and deception the whole time. They promise they will make it so you will have to pay nothing or very little of your tax debt to the *** on there adds and then they do nothing for you except take your money which you could have given to the *** instead of them. Not only that but when I first called they also lied about how much it would cost and it wound up being a lot more then I was told. I will be doing a lot of reporting of them to whatever agencies I can find to report to and will be talking to lawyers as well due to the deceptive nature of this company.Business Response

So in 2023 I hired TRA to handle my years that I hadn't filled. I put up $500 with a balance of $2500 and sat back with what I thought was doing something to better my life for my wife and I,but instead I've been avoided it feel like. Every time I asked about what was happening or if I needed to do anything they would say "we are waiting for the *** to respond." For the last 2 years. Honestly I don't think that they have done anything and I'm still not whole.Business Response

These people contacting me telling me that they knew I was behind on my taxes. Not sure how they knew. Fishy already.. They perposed that they will file my years that I was missing and work on my behalf to negotiate with the ***. That was 3 months ago. I waited and got an email explaining what they need to from me. And sent them all that they asked for quickly. I email and called at least a dozen times my case worker was never available to talk to. Finally right before my 591 payment was due. He contacted me . He explained to me that he did not recieve my info then changed his story and sayed it was in his scam folder. Waited for a few more weeks. Trying calling no way to contact this person talk to the lady answering the phone to have skyler call me back. I got impatient and did my own back taxes and mailed them in and sent him copys. Finally right before the next payment I get a email telling me that we needs to file extension because he need more time. I asked him what he was talking about I had already finished my taxes and mailed them not in. He apologized and explained that he needed more information to talk to the *** about my debt. It took a while but I got it all together and a sent it to you him. Then I got an email says I had anew case manager and need to same info that I already sent. I sent an email to demanding to know what I paying for here. A manager contacted me a few days before my next payment saying they still need to file my taxes. I responded by telling you that them I don't want any there services anymore and not to charge me because they could not explain to me what they were doing to earn the money. Today they charged me again. I had to cansel my debit card. Now I'm out 1500 on top of still have to deal with the ***. Theses people are talking advantage of struggling peopleBusiness Response

I owed money to the ***. Received a email or text (dont remember which one was first) stating that they help people in my situation by negotiating with the *** to reduce the amount owed and set up a schedule so it didnt happen again. I sent all the documentation they requested, and had a meeting with them. They outlined a plan and told me what they thought that they could get my debt down to by settling and stop all *** harassment. I paid their fees and the amount they said that the *** would settle on ($4300 or $4500) would be the total (which is what I sent). I was told that someone would update me within a week or two. Phone call after phone call went unreturned. The *** continued with letters. A couple months later I finally got someone to answer who apologized saying that the employee left and didnt forward any cases that she was working on. Same scenario continued until I had to agree to a payment plan with the *** when they took legal action. Finally got thru to someone again and demanded a refund as they did nothing they promised. They eventually agreed to return half the money and sent a document via email that I had to print and mail back. Months of the same unanswered calls and emails have me still waiting for my refund! Today, I received a text from them stating that they see that I have an outstanding balance owed to the *** (yes, I owed again this year as I never received a plan to avoid it) and said that they could help by reducing the amount owed. I lost my money and ended up paying more due to the penalties and fees!Business Response

Im sorry, I missed the previous email. They did reach out and offered half of what I paid as a refund. I didnt accept it. If they are going to refund me, then it should be a refund of what I paid! Their actions (or in reality non action) resulted in me paying more to the *** in penalties than I paid them. This company promises a service but fails to follow through. They prey on the desperate.
The reason that I checked for your email today, is because they called me on Saturday saying that they see that I owe the *** money and they can help!!!!
You would think that after they scam someone once, that they would place that person on a do not call list. They are so driven by greed, they just call and call hoping someone will give in.

I signed up with TRA a few months ago. Ive been paying the deposits of $125 for the initial $600 down payment. Ive been calling to speak to someone for over a month who is working my case. When they answer the phone they tell me they dont know who is working my case and theyll have someone reach out to me asap. No one calls no one emails me. I have urgent questions and updates for them but no one will help me out. They try multiple times a week to charge my account which is unauthorized. I only authorized them on select days.
