On several occasions I have tried to get everything resolved with this company. I do regret ever believing they were going to help me because I was having severe hardships. I was under the impression that this program would help me instead the only thing it has done is caused me added stress I have asked several times for our conversations to be reviewed so that I know whether I misinterpret things or not. I have been assured on more than one occasion that the person I was talking to would expedite and keep on top of my concerns. None of this has happened. Last week I called with several questions and never heard anything and I had to call on Wednesday to get an update and received nothing. Was assured again that a manager would get back to me and still have not heard anything. I have a debt in negotiation but that has been for several months now and received 2 calls that they have a great offer and then radio silence. They asked for more money $30 for 4 months and everything would be cleared, I asked that conversation to be reviewed and nothing. Then a week later received almost the same call but this time asking for $45 extra for four months. Asked for an explanation and nothing. This does not seem the way to do business. I feel scammed and that I cannot trust anyone at this company. Out of only two debts resolved after all the fees I have only saved myself around $850.00 but that is not even what is bothering me the most at this time its the lack of communication and promises broken and no accountability at all. I do regret trusting in a company that has no integrity.Business Response

Dear BBB,
Guardian Litigation Group appreciates the opportunity to respond to Ms. ******** complaint and provide clarification regarding her account.
Ms. ******* retained Guardian to provide legal services related to her unsecured debts. To date, our firm has successfully negotiated settlements resolving approximately half of the debt she engaged us to assist with. These results provided her with meaningful savings and represent substantial progress toward resolving her obligations.
With respect to the remaining account referenced in her complaint, our ability to advance that negotiation has been severely hindered by Ms. ******** repeated reductions in her monthly deposit. Her current contribution is approximately half of what it was at the start of her engagement. While this reduced deposit is sufficient to maintain her existing settlements, it does not generate the necessary funds to support new resolutions at this time.
It is important to clarify that Guardian cannot compel creditors to accept terms outside of what can be funded by the clients dedicated savings. Additional settlements depend on having sufficient resources available, and with the reduced deposit, we are unable to finalize the remaining account until adequate funds accumulate.
Our supervisory staff has been in contact with Ms. ******** including as recently as this week, and we encourage her to continue communicating with us so we can work together on strategies to increase her available funds and move her final account toward resolution.
Guardian has acted in full compliance with the engagement agreement and remains committed to achieving the best possible outcomes within the framework of the clients own contributions.
Sincerely,
Guardian Litigation GroupCustomer Answer

Any time that the amount has been reduced and I made it clear that I do not want it reduced if it would effect anything and I was assured that it would not. Also please not that the majority of the time that I have spoken with Guardian I have made the first call. At no point has an official offer been made to me regarding the Prosper account. when I ask that I be sent something in writing I am told this is not possible. I have asked them to review the phone conversations and my frustration on numerous times and until yesterday when a manager finally spoke to me was I explained anything regarding my current deposits. Also the last reduction that was made I never asked it to be dropped that much and I was under the assumption it was going to be $250 biweekly and it turned out that the first week it was kept at $350 when I called and explained they only took out $207.90. So I reject this answer from Guardian and again say that I was assured that when they did reduce my deposits that it would not effect my current debts or my future negotiations. So putting the blame on me is not what a company should do. I wish I could provide documentation but they never send me anything in writing and although I have asked for a transcript of my conversation it has never been provided. I have also admitted to them that I might have misinterrupted some things but I do know that I did not misinterrupt them telling me that any reduction will not affect anything.Business Response

Dear BBB
Guardian Litigation Group appreciates Ms. ******** additional comments. We regret any misunderstanding regarding the impact of deposit changes and apologize if the impacts were unclear. Reduced contributions limit the ability to fund new settlements, and while our representatives explained this, we understand Ms. ******* feels otherwise. Of note, Ms. ******* has not resumed the deposit schedule she agreed to in her original engagement agreement.
Any reduction in deposits necessarily impacts our ability to successfully resolve open debt accounts. We remain committed to open communication, transparency, and achieving the best possible outcomes for Ms. ************************************************Customer Answer

i only want this resolved and I have asked numerous times for the recorded sessions to be listened to as what I was told. I would appreciate Guardian taking responsibility for the miscommunication and making it better. I do not appreciate it being implied that I am the cause of the last debt being resolved. Every time that I asked about the reduction I specifically said that I did not want it to impact anything present or future. For a program that I originally thought cared about the situation that I was in has proven that all they care about is making sure that they received their money. And while I respect that as any business has to I do not feel that it should impact the financial situation of the person who is trying to make things better. When my arrangement first started the $410.00 was based on more debt. I pulled a couple of the cards out of the program because it was not getting resolved fast enough. So when the first reduction came about I felt that it was ok because of this but anything after that I stated I did not want it to affect anything I just wanted to understand.
And by the way it just happened again with the last two people I talked to so you do not even have to go back that far. And still I wait for word about a settlement that was in the works.

In October 2024, I was contacted by Guardian Litigation Group about debt consolidation services. During my initial call, I specifically asked the representative if there would be additional fees taken out of my account on top of the monthly payments. He explicitly stated no, and reassured me that Guardian did not operate like other companies that misled consumers with hidden fees. Based on this assurance, I agreed to enroll and began making payments of $350 per month, which I continued faithfully for seven months.Unfortunately, despite my payments, I saw no progress in reducing my debt. I was eventually left with no choice but to file for bankruptcy in July 2025. At that time, I called to cancel the service. I was told I would receive a refund of $200, which I considered minimal but at least something. However, after a month with no refund check, I called again and was told that Guardian kept the $200 as fees directly contradicting what I was promised when I signed up.I feel misled, deceived, and taken advantage of. The representative blatantly lied to secure my enrollment, and Guardians shifting explanations have left me with nothing after paying over $2,400 into a service that provided no relief.Resolution Sought:A refund of the funds I paid into the program, or at minimum, the $200 I was promised.Accountability for the misleading information provided by Guardians representatives.Assurance that Guardian will not continue predatory practices that harm vulnerable consumers seeking debt relief.I trusted Guardian Litigation Group during a financially difficult time, and instead I feel preyed upon. Dear BBB:
Guardian Litigation Group appreciates the opportunity to respond to Ms. ******** complaint and provide clarification regarding her account.
Ms. ******* retained Guardian in October 2024 to provide legal services related to her unsecured debts. It is important to clarify that Guardian is not a debt consolidation company and does not administer loans or financial products. Our firm provides legal negotiation, litigation defense, and risk mitigation strategies to resolve unsecured debt obligations.
Within the first six months of her engagement, Guardian successfully negotiated settlements resolving nearly half of the debt Ms. ******* retained us to assist with. These settlements saved her thousands of dollars and were secured while she was only approximately 15% into her estimated engagement term. This early progress demonstrated that her program was on track and advancing meaningfully.
We regret that Ms. ******* ultimately elected to file for bankruptcy. However, Guardian acted in full compliance with the signed engagement agreement, and the services she retained us for were delivered as promised. The payments she references were applied toward settlements with her creditors and the associated earned contingency fees for those negotiated results.
We also note that refund requests cannot apply to funds already disbursed to creditors or earned through successfully completed settlements. Guardian denies any misrepresentation or predatory practices and remains committed to transparency and professionalism in all client interactions.
We regret that Ms. ******* feels her experience did not meet her expectations and wish her the best in moving forward with her financial circumstances.
Sincerely,
Guardian Litigation GroupCustomer Answer

Guardians response does not address the central issues of my complaint:
Misrepresentation at Enrollment When I signed up in October 2024, I specifically asked if fees would be taken out of my payments. I was explicitly told no. That statement was false. Had I been told the truth, I never would have enrolled. Guardians response does not explain or deny this misrepresentation, it simply ignores it.
Refund Promise and Retraction When I canceled in July 2025, a Guardian representative told me I would receive a $200 refund. I waited over a month based on that assurance. Later, another representative told me I would not be receiving any refund after all. This shifting explanation shows a pattern of telling clients what they want to hear, then reversing later.
Failure of Benefit Despite paying $2,400, I was left with no meaningful relief from my debt and had no choice but to file bankruptcy. Whatever Guardian claims about settlements, the fact remains that I received no practical benefit for the money I paid, and was actively misled during both enrollment and cancellation.
This is not a simple matter of contract interpretation. It is a matter of consumer deception and bad faith practices. Guardian may insist it acted in compliance with the agreement, but that does not excuse false and misleading statements made by its representatives, which directly induced me to sign the agreement and later prevented me from acting sooner when I was told to expect a refund.
If Guardian continues to deny accountability, I am prepared to pursue further remedies through the ****, my state ************************* and legal channels for misrepresentation and unfair business practices.Business Response

Dear BBB:
Guardian Litigation Group appreciates the opportunity to provide further clarification in response to Ms. ******** concerns.
With respect to her allegation of misrepresentation, Ms. ******* executed a detailed written engagement agreement in November 2024, completed a recorded quality control call, and received a comprehensive welcome packageall of which clearly disclosed our contingency-based fee structure. Guardian does not and did not promise services without fees. Our fees are earned only when a negotiated settlement is reached and approved, and they were assessed strictly in accordance with the agreement.
Regarding the $200 refund, no unearned or unauthorized funds were collected. Any reference to a refund was made in error, and our team clarified that the deposits in her dedicated savings account were applied to settlements and earned legal fees. Guardian does not retain or refund funds already applied toward creditor resolutions or fees earned under the agreement.
As to the benefit of our services, within approximately six months of engagement, Guardian successfully negotiated settlements resolving nearly half of the debt Ms. ******* retained us to assist with. These settlements saved her thousands of dollars while she was only about 15% into her estimated engagement term. While she later chose to file bankruptcy, that does not erase the tangible results already achieved during her representation.
Guardian acted in full compliance with the signed agreement and delivered measurable results. While we regret that Ms. ******* feels dissatisfied, no refund is warranted. We remain willing to provide her with documentation of her settlements, fee calculations, and account activity should she wish to review them further.Initial Complaint

Dear BBB,
Guardian Litigation Group appreciates the opportunity to respond to Mr. ***** complaint and provide clarification regarding his file.
Mr. ***** retained Guardian to provide legal services related to his unsecured debts. To date, we have successfully negotiated settlements resolving multiple accounts, including one that was paid in full and another under installment terms. These outcomes reflect meaningful progress toward the goals of our engagement.
In April 2025, Mr. ***** was mistakenly advised by a representative that no additional deposit was needed after a failed transaction. This was not correct, and once identified, our team attempted to reach Mr. ***** on multiple occasions to clarify the situation and prevent any disruption to his settlements. Unfortunately, we were unable to make contact before the next scheduled deposit was processed.
It is important to note that Guardian does not misappropriate client funds. All deposits are held in a dedicated savings account for the sole purpose of funding creditor settlements and paying earned legal fees under the signed agreement. Funds are not invested, diverted, or used for any other purpose.
We regret the confusion caused by the miscommunication and remain committed to resolving Mr. ***** concerns. A supervisor will be reaching out directly to provide the clarification he has requested.
Sincerely,

8/11/25 Guardian Litigation on a recorded line confirmed that my new payment would be $270 and that no payment would be required for the month of August. It had taken four phone calls to get them to remove creditors that were paid in full from my account. The call was recorded and the customer service agent said no payment for August, in Sept my payment would be $270. On 8/11/25 Guardian ACH drafted $995.66. I did call into customer service and request ACH privilege be immediately revoked as well as a full refund. Agent said she cannot refund me because it is pending and even after she can refund me she can mail me a check. This is unacceptable and illegal. I asked for her to listen to the recorded call from 8/11 and agent refused to assist. I need my ACH from 8/11 refunded in full.Business Response

Dear BBB,
Guardian Litigation Group appreciates the opportunity to respond to Ms. ********* concerns and provide clarification.
After receiving her initial request, we informed Ms. ******* the change in her deposit amount would take effect on 9/23, and that her August deposit would process as normal. We apologize for any misunderstanding when relaying that information initially, but after reviewing our recorded calls we found that the correct dates were provided by our team.
Ms. Colbergs funds are held in her account with Forth Pay and we cannot control their withdrawal policy, which is to issue withdrawals by check. However, it appears that ***** has already made an exception and scheduled an ACH withdrawal for her. We trust this addresses her concern and stand ready to assist as needed.

Guardian Litigation was supposed to help negotiate and pay down my debt. Addiitonally, at the time I agreed to the terms, I was told I would never be asked to pay more per month for my deposit than the agreed amount. In 4 months, Guardian only negotiated 2 accounts AND had the audacity to ask me to pay $300 more per month than the agreed amount. I received an offer from an alternate company to pay less per month for a shorter amount of time. Guardian refuses to refund my money, despite having done nothing to actually help me. They have HORRIBLE customer service and steal money from clients.Business Response

Dear BBB:
Guardian Litigation Group appreciates the opportunity to respond to Ms. ***** complaint and provide clarification regarding her account. Ms. **** retained Guardian at the end of May 2025 to provide legal services related to her unsecured debts. Within just two monthswhile she was only about 6% into her estimated engagement termour firm successfully negotiated settlements resolving nearly one-third of her enrolled debt. These resolutions saved her thousands of dollars, and importantly, she did not need to increase her monthly deposit to accept them.
Additional settlement opportunities were later presented, which Ms. **** declined. These opportunities involved the optionnot a requirementto add funds to accelerate the resolution process. Choosing not to add funds does not prevent settlements from occurring; it simply allows them to proceed at the pace dictated by her existing monthly deposit schedule.
It is also important to note that Guardian earns its contingency fee only when settlements are successfully negotiated. In Ms. ***** case, several debts were resolved at significantly reduced balances, generating substantial savings. As such, there are no funds available for refund, since the payments in question were applied toward creditor settlement payments and the earned legal fees associated with those results.
Guardian has acted in full compliance with the signed engagement agreement. We regret that Ms. **** feels her experience did not meet her expectations and remain willing to review her file with her directly and provide further clarification if she chooses to reconnect.
Sincerely,

I have been laid off as of March 14 2025 and had to undergo surgery afterwards on May 6th while I had severance and insurance. I have spoken with Guardian multiple times throughout that time frame. During this one of my creditors has filed a lawsuit due to failure to settle. I also asked in June to skip a payment and was told I could to call by 1st of July. I did and was told it was sent to a manager under high importance! Never heard anything back and the funds were withdrawn from my account and drained me while being on Unemployment due to severance ran out upon acquiring a new job after recovery from surgery. This company is cleaning out the extra funds put in a account set to make settlements on accounts. . One of the accounts could have been paid off with those funds and instead they are only paying them $100 @ month. They have only settled 3 accounts over 2 years and the contract of payments are set to end within a year and I don't for see them settling any of the other accounts due to taking the money for themselves and not following through on the payment agreement and terms to close the accounts under negotiable agreements. I have heard multiple times once you are under $35k you are eligible for a loan and I believe that is what will be expected by the end of payment terms. This company is a complete scam! And should be shutdown for false creditor dealings and financial business crimes!Business Response

Dear BBB,
Guardian Litigation Group appreciates the opportunity to respond to Mr. ***** concerns and provide clarification regarding his file.
Mr. ***** retained Guardian to provide legal services related to his unsecured debts. To date, we have successfully negotiated settlements resolving nearly half of the debt he engaged us to assist with, in accordance with the signed legal services agreement outlining the use of monthly deposits to fund resolutions.
In July 2025, Mr. ***** requested to skip a deposit. Because deposit changes can impact active settlements, our team attempted to reach him to review potential consequences. Unfortunately, we were unable to connect before the transaction entered pending status and could no longer be stopped.
At this time, Mr. ***** deposits are fully committed to paying negotiated settlements. Skipping a deposit risks defaulting on those agreements. The lawsuit referenced in his complaint could not have been avoided via settlement due to insufficient available funds at the time. However, his Guardian attorney has appeared in the matter and is representing him.
Regarding the loan, Guardian is not a lender and does not guarantee or issue loans. The optional debt resolution loan is administered by an independent third-party lender. Eligibility depends on lender criteria and approval is not guaranteed.
We empathize with Mr. ***** recent hardships and welcome the opportunity to speak with him directly to review his file and answer any additional questions.

I entered into debt consolidation with guardian litigation and I realized after nine months they were only paying them 331.00$ out of 541.00$.I realized they were taking half my money so I canceled with them in June. They told me/promised me the payment would not be taken on July first, but they did take it so I called them. They assured me I was getting a refund coming back to me within a week or two.I waited two weeks and called back and was promised it was coming but it would take 1-2 more weeks so I waited another week and called back this morning only to be told they kept the money for fees there would be no refund!!! Dear BBB:
Guardian Litigation Group appreciates the opportunity to respond to this complaint and provide clarification regarding Mrs. ********* account.
Mrs. ******** retained Guardian to provide legal services related to her unsecured debts. It is important to clarify that Guardian is not a debt consolidation company and does not offer loans or financial products. Our firm provides legal services to resolve unsecured debt obligations.
Within the first 90 days of engagement, Guardian successfully negotiated and finalized a settlement on Mrs. ********* second largest debt. This early resolution saved her thousands of dollars and provided a significant balance reduction.
Regarding her concern about the July deposit, our records show that Mrs. ******** contacted our office too close to the scheduled withdrawal date for us to prevent the transaction. At that time, our team advised her that we would attempt to stop the payment but could not guarantee it could be blocked. Unfortunately, the transaction could not be reversed.
In accordance with the signed engagement agreement, Guardians fees are earned upon the successful negotiation and commencement of settlement payments. For that reason, no refund is warranted.
We regret that Mrs. ******** feels her experience did not meet her expectations. However, Guardian has acted in full compliance with the engagement agreement and remains willing to discuss her file directly if she would like additional clarification.

I was told my 541 would be refunded all month until they decided to keep it for fees. There were no more fees I had cancelled with my right to cancel. I was told as long as I cancelled before the next payment I would receive a refund. They simply kept the money our business was already canceled!

Dear BBB:
Guardian Litigation Group appreciates the opportunity to further clarify the status of Mrs. ********* account.
We understand and regret that there may have been confusion regarding the final deposit withdrawn from her account. While Mrs. ******** did request cancellation, our records indicate that the request came too close to the scheduled withdrawal date for the transaction to be halted in time. At the time of her call, our team clearly explained that we would attempt to stop the payment but could not guarantee it, and unfortunately, the transaction processed as scheduled.
Per the terms of the engagement agreement, our firms contingency fees are earned upon the successful negotiation and commencement of settlement payments. In Mrs. ********* case, the payment in question was applied toward those earned fees based on prior services rendered, including the successful negotiation of a settlement that provided her with substantial savings. For that reason, no refund is due.
That said, we are sorry to hear that Mrs. ******** feels misled. Our intention is always to communicate clearly and transparently, and we welcome the opportunity to review her file and discuss any remaining concerns with her directly.

I have an account with ********************** (GLG) dealing with a debt of approximately or over $41,000. I have received 2 settlement offers within 2 or 3 months. Over a week ago, I received a settlement offer of approximately $26, 700 to pay off the $41.,000 debt . I requested a 24 months payoff for the settlement offer of $26 700. The recommended monthly payment starting August 2025 was $1335.00 per month for 24 months. Currently, my account with *** has Approx $6487( represents $660 per month from September 2024-July 2025). I have asked if the balance of $6487 will be used to pay off my debt? I cannot get definitely answer.. They reduced their earned performance rate from 27 % to 22%. I have had at least 5 conversations with 5 different account specialists regarding my total pay off for the $26 700 settlement offer. (Pmts of $1335 for 24 months + the $6487 balance currently in my account equals a total payoff of approximately $38,000 for the $26700 settlement offer. None of the representatives could give me a firm answer of the reason that I am paying over $11,000 over the $26700 pay off amount; and this was after the reduction of the 27% to 22% earned performance fee that *** will receive. No representative would confirm that after paying $1335 for 24 months that my loan would be paid off; and that I would have finished pay this Loan. I have received inconsistent answers regarding the terms of payment and the total amount to pay off this debt. I have been deceived regarding the terms for settling this debt yet they are requesting a higher monthly payment with undisclosed terms to settle this debt.. Each time that I speak to someone it is so frustrating because the terms of payment and amounts change. They are so inconsistent and frustrating to settle this debt. I started this program in September of 2024, and I have made all payments timely. I asked, how can I accept the settlement offer and payoff this $26700 within 24 months. Without paying $38,000Business Response

on 7/24/25, I spoke to a representative from Guardian Litigation Group (GLG), he provided details of the offer settlement, that were acceptable. However , I asked for the offer settlement, monthly payment plan, a payment of 24 months to settle my account, which would increase monthly rate. I was advised that this debt would take 34 months to pay off with a 22 % performance fee payable to them. It is still unclear As to why this company will not agree to a 24 month payment plan that will allow me to pay this debt off. I still have not received the relief that I asked for. I stated that I was willing to accept the offer but it is not unacceptable to continue going through this inconsistent communication. I have a master degree, and I can comprehend. But it appears that they think that I am an idiot or ignorant. I have requested the agreement in writing.
the full payoff plan in writing. And , I want to negotiate a plan that will help me pay this debt off in ****************************** inquiring the reason why, they will not allow me to settle this debt in 24 months. The representative stated that he needed to consult with *** to secure a written offer and payoff plan. To protect myself and effectively pay this loan off, I need everything in writing. Until I hear from ***, please keep my case open. Can you reconnect about a 24 month pay off plan. Thanks for your assistance.

I began *** in October 2024. I kept on top of my payments and monthly phone calls. In April I found out that one of the companies they were supposed to be negotiating with went to court and then began garnishing my pay at 25%. I contacted ***. They had heard nothing of it and said it was my fault and there was nothing they could do about it. I cancelled my account with them and they are not sending any of the money back that I have paid them-except for $178. I now have to file bankruptcy. Before using them I was making on time payments just struggling. Big mistake on my part.Business Response

Dear BBB:
We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint and provide clarification regarding Ms. *********** account.
Ms. ********** retained Guardian in October 2024 to provide legal services related to her unsecured debts. During our representation, we successfully negotiated settlements resolving approximately one-third of the total debt she engaged us to assist with.
Unfortunately, one of Ms. *********** creditors filed a lawsuit against her, and we were not made aware of this legal action until after the creditor had already obtained a judgment. At that point, our options were limited to pursuing post-judgment settlement arrangements, which in this situation was the best possible outcome available under the circumstances.
We regret that Ms. ********** feels her experience did not meet her expectations and wish her the best in managing her financial situation moving forward.

Enrolled with guardian. Company is not transparent. I have been in program for over 6 months. They have only settled 2 of my 7 debts. Have not made any efforts to settle other debts resulting in charge offs. When requested to remove all accounts from their program they told me the money I had already paid to them had not been paid to the creditor and the money would "disappear" and u would not be refunded. Very deceptive and not forthcoming.Business Response

Dear BBB:
Guardian Litigation Group appreciates the opportunity to respond to this complaint and provide clarification regarding Ms. *********** account.
Ms. ********** retained Guardian to provide legal services related to her unsecured debts. During our representation, we successfully resolved two of her accounts in alignment with the expected program timeline. At the time Ms. ********** elected to disengage from our services, we were already actively working to resolve her third debt. Based on her monthly budget, we were moving as quickly as possible to address her debts and mitigate the risk of litigation, and had she chosen to continue, her next negotiated resolution was scheduled to occur in August.
We respectfully deny any claims of deception or lack of transparency. Ms. ********** had full access to her dedicated savings account throughout her engagement. Additionally, one of our supervisors attempted to reach her on at least three occasions via text and phone to discuss her file and address her concerns.
We remain committed to supporting Ms. ********** and would welcome the opportunity to speak with her directly to clarify her programs progress and explore how we might assist her further.
