Ive been trying to complete my background check with Hireright since 5/17/23 they keep sending me different documents for the same information regarding a *** screening release. Ive spoken to my recruiter at my future employer and she said the only thing they are waited on is HireRight to PROPERLY SEND THE FORM and complete the job. This should have taken 2 days seeing that this is a company Ive previously worked for. Ive been stuck at 88% for 4 days now for ONE FORM. Ive spoken to 5 different people and no one is of any help. The issue Im having only takes a few seconds & common sense to fix, yet they have everything automated to a computer system that is useless. The delay in response and business practices ARE HORRIBLE. This is holding up so much for me to move forward in my process and moving. Ive had to spoon feed so much information to this company to get a resolve. Ive read so many complaints, no one should use this company. They are messing up peoples lively hood. This is truly unacceptable.Business Response

I applied for a company. HireRight first stated they could not verify dates of my employment with *****. Then they contradicted themselves by saying they could not verify at all. Then they said they could not verify a company I did political canvassing for. They tried to blame it on the work number and I don't even think this company uses the work number. Now, because it was political canvassing, the work ended in November of that year, because the election was in November. They said they could not verify the end date- when I provided the end date. This company needs not to be verifying information because they always mess things up. You cannot even find ***************************** under the work number- what are they doing??They need to understand this affects peoples lives when they don't do their job right.Business Response

I applied for a position at a company and they have again messed up my background. I have never seen a company so incompetent as this company. I don't have any issues with background checks ever. They claim they were not able to verify my information for a company that I have ever had an issue with other companies verifying ever. Someone really needs to look into this because this is the 2nd time a company has done a check and they messed it up by not providing the correct information to them. Today is May 9, 2023. I completed the background check application and submitted supporting documentation on April 14, 2023. My start date with the new company is in jeopardy as my report remains stuck at 96% complete and has been this way for weeks now. The date I was given for completion when I contacted Hireright customer support was today. That date has now come and it is still pending for supposed criminal background information. I am a professional who currently holds multiple home state licenses as well as non resident licenses for most of *****************. I do not have a criminal record and find ongoing Hirerights delays in background verification to be detrimental. Their delay in completing my report is causing me a significant loss in income due to might inability to start the new position as well as emotional and financial stress. They refuse to provide detailed information for the state or county from which information is still needed and I suspect that this is merely a stall tactic. I have completed background checks with fingerprint requirements that did not take this long. I need to have my report finalized and provided to the employer to avoid any further delay and possible loss of the job offer due to the delay.I have submitted supporting email document showing that the report was submitted for completion and verified as received by Hireright on 04-14-23. I have also submitted documentation from Hirerights candidate portal which shows that my report remains in progress as of today 05-09-23. Hireright is conducting my pre-employment background check for Behavior Frontiers which hired me at the beginning of April 2023. I spent 25+ hours completing all the onboarding tasks, getting a TB test, and other pre-employment tasks. The background check through Hireright was started April 13, 2023. It has been showing an incomplete status since April 13, 2023. The background check is as I am told 90% complete. It is now May 8, 2023 and the check is still not complete. I have reached out twice, most recently earlier today. I am told that the public records search system to check if I have any criminal cases in my county (Wayne County, ********) is not accessible due to migration and that is the reason it is taking so long. I was able to access the ******************* Public Records website, search for myself, and verify as I know that I have no criminal history. I provided the screenshot, the court website, and my findings on 2 separate occasions.This has cost me nearly a month of work, potentially the job which the background check is for, and as I am told by Hireright the *** to correct the issue (which I cannot find any evidence of) will be possibly mid to end of May. Due to my need to earn income, and the fact that I have no guarantee that the unconfirmable issue will be fixed or when, I had to accept another position paying considerably less and without benefits as offered by the employer Behavior Frontiers.Hireright should make a diligent effort to contact the court directly, or request a certified document or letter to confirm this information if they, as I am told cannot obtain it. Despite a quick ****** search leading me to the court website showing public information, and searching by my name and birthdate. The 3 1/2 weeks that Hireright has delayed my background check being completed due to lack of action on their part is ridiculous. I am 100% certain that I have no criminal background with my local county court (Wayne County, ******** *******************) or any court at all.This company should not be able to delay this process. Especially when I am told excuses that don't add up as to the reason for the delay. If they are not capable of getting the required information, then they should not be in business.Business Response

On April 7, 2023 I authorized HireRight to conduct a criminal background check as part of an offer for a new job. Their website stated it would take 2-4 business days and my authorization was given heading in to Easter weekend so I expected it might take longer.Approximately 2 weeks later we still hadnt heard back. I spoke with HireRight and they indicated it would be complete by April 21. A day after that deadline I called again and was given a new date of April 27 and an explanation that records had to be manually reviewed. After this deadline passed I called again, was given a new deadline of May 3 and the representative said that they were having trouble retrieving records from the county and that it may be a technical issue. I spoke with the county, who indicated there were no technical issues and that they didnt do background checks; the state did. After speaking with the state records area, they indicated a check takes approximately 5 minutes to complete.I called HireRight back to offer this new information in the hopes it would help. The representative said that they couldnt use this information and that they were actually waiting on our third party to complete the check.It is now past the May 3 deadline and there still has not been any progress on my basic background check. I called the company again and was out on hold for approximately 20 minutes waiting to connected to an escalations department, at which point the call ended. Ive received deadlines that were not met and have been given multiple different reasons for the delay, each of which dont appear to be true. The delay of this process affects both me and my future employer.Business Response

I turned down another job offer thinking everything would be good to go for this job, but the background check has been extremely slow and tiring. I have filed various complaints with hire right via phone, email, chat, and the BBB. No one is doing their part, it extremely aggravating and a complete waste of everyones time. Im not asking you for a favor, you are knowingly doing something wrong by not doing you job. My report and complaints have yet to be addressed my hire right and the BBB. Hire right takes an extremely unnecessary amount of time to complete background check reports. The job this year is still awaiting a report of my background check from hire right which was promised by April ***** then delayed until the 25th, then promised to be expedited on the 26th. Still my report is not completed. I have had the same is*** with this company last year and their refusal to do their part as promised. They have caused me to lose a job due to not doing their part again last year. Now this year they are making excuses and never doing their part, still. I do want to *** them for terrorizing my life and placing me at risk due to their unprofessionalism and deliberate misconduct concerning my personal affairs. Hireright is going to cost me thousands of dollars in lost pay and possibly not being hired by the company attempting to hire me. Should I loose any money because of Hireright I will hire an attorney and seek legal action. It is the 25th of April I submitted all documentation they asked for, beginning the 9th. My start date with the new company was supposed to be yesterday the 24th. They stated In their emails that the backround check would be completed by the 25th. They lied and the company will not allow me to start until the backround check is completed. Hireright has now caused me a gap in work as I put in my two weeks according to the original Hireright time frame.
