Good morning,
Tri Pointe evaluated **************** concerns on Friday, August 11. As this home closed escrow in 2014, it was determined the stucco issues are damage which are not covered under warranty. The concrete issue noted in the complaint is currently covered by carpet (installed by the homeowner) so Tri Pointe could not properly inspect it. Tri Pointe asked ************** if he would remove the carpet, and when that is done, Tri Pointe agreed to come back to the home to evaluate. ************** has Tri Pointe's customer care contact information and knows he can contact Tri Pointe at any time should any additional issues arise. Tri Pointe considers this matter closed.

Brand new home by Tripointe Homes in the Madera subdivison in Queek Creek. Was told everything would be fixed prior to closing on April 1st. Have submitted issues to the warranty ***** 1 person has come and looked but still no answers. We have a sliding door with gap in outside stucco and water is getting inside. Upgraded carpet shows the seams and they are now getting to be gaps. Outside stucco is coming off. Fascia not finished under roof tile. Jagged edge of tile in master bath where the grout is now coming. Floorboards are squeaking. Sag in loft ceiling means we can't put a fan up. This is just a few of the items but what we consider a priority. Other neighbors have had new roofs, stucco, windows and sliders (home that are months old) but no one is getting back to us. We paid for shoddy workmanship, they promised to fix before the closing date and here we are, 3 months later with no results.Business Response

Good afternoon. Tri Pointe, its contractors and the customer are working amicably to inspect and address each concern. On the day Tri Pointe received the customer's complaint, it had already scheduled certain repairs. Yesterday, August 10, 2023, Tri Pointe's window contractor visited the home to measure all windows at issue, and any required repairs will be scheduled as soon as the parts arrive. Today, August 11, 2023, the electrician is scheduled to address the vanity light in the powder room that was off center from the vanity. In addition, the ceiling fan box in the loft will be lowered so that the fan can work efficiently and effectively. Tri Pointe will continue to work cohesively with the customer until final resolution, and at that time, Tri Pointe will provide a final response to the complaint. Thank you.Customer Answer

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. We are working with **** who has gone above and beyond in meeting our expectations. He has got the ball rolling and we can confirm that the electrical issue was addressed today, August 11th 2023, the expansion joint has been added and the house re stuccoed and will be painted in 2 weeks time. The window/slider issued has been addressed and are awaiting them to be installed. We know this can take up to 3 months. We are working to resolve carpet/tile and grout issues with Tripointe and are awaiting to here from **** about a resolution. AC and plumbing issues were addressed the first week of August and are satisfactory. Inside painting has been done. Baseboards are on hold until we have a carpet resolution.
Tripointe are working with us to solve the issues in a timely manner, and once again, I want to thank **** for being on the ball, keeping us informed and taking charge to get these items resolved.

Poor Construction Quality I've closed a home with Tripointe in ******* area(************************), Arizona. on the first day of the house warming the liviing room ceiling started leaking and it was such an embracement, in front of guests. I am still fine with what happenned as issues happen and we need to correct it with proper action, but since then its been more than 20 days since I closed the home. people from different groups (warranty, remidiation etc) come in but no one did fix the issue as they all blame a different wing and leave the scene. Along with this issue the ** did not work properly the first three days, and I have 10 to 15 small issues around the house. which is not even discusses yet. I'm in this home for 20 days now and haven't used all the home at all as the ceiling is now cut and made holes in the living room and I cannot use mater bath and it runs water into living room. I was not able to work properly for more than a week now and took leaves which resulted in loss of pay.It has been such a bad experience taking a home with Tripointe. I am not ending up paying my mortgage for the month without living in the home properly. I hope someone really take attention to this and helps with the situation. Thanks,****** ************ ************************Business Response

Tri Pointe cannot offer a final response, but can provide an update as repairs are currently in progress. Tri Pointe met with this homeowner yesterday, April 11, 2023. The residence was walked and every concern was addressed. A repair plan was drafted. Prior to the walk-thru, the repairs to the primary shower had already been completed. The cooktop was switched out today, April 12, 2023. Tri Pointe is working amicably with this homeowner and will continue to do so until final resolution. Thank you.

Since building with Tripointe from day one I had a bad corner pop repair that they messed up. We continued to put repair request in with the company sending our subpar contractors that didnt repair it correctly. After many attempts for them to repair since it was their mistake from day one. If you look at all repair tickets in warranty you will see this has been asked many times. Now the company refuses to stand behind their work and send someone to repair it correctly. I also had drainage issue from day one that the company refused to repair for almost a year that I believe contributed to the corn pop issue. I ask they send a license repairman that can repair the corner pop correctly since it was their error.Business Response

On January 4, ************************************************** the Tri Pointe Altis 55 and older community. At the time my wife and I were told that in addition to $25,000 buyers incentive we were told we had $7500 in options to use at the design Center. We scheduled and had our design Center appointment on 2/21 only to be told that we had missed every last deadline except for the standard flooring and blinds that they offered. We were shocked to find this out; never were we told by our sales associate that we'd missed all deadlines. The design center representative tells us at the time the contract was signed we'd already missed the deadlines. We only required three upgrades Kitchen Cabinets , Painting, and light fixtures. Tri Pointe homes seems to be in the business of inflating prices and not honoring contracts. Frankly I'm very perturbed that on the website the painting cost $1400 to $1700 and we're being told that if they scramble an get it approved for us , mind you they're the one who screwed up when it comes to missing deadlines; the cost has now increased to $4800! I will not be taken advantage of and I DEMAND that their practices are looked into at once. I'm a Veteran and both my wife and I are disabled. Shame on Tripointe for taking advantage of unsuspecting homebuyers, stealing their options to make their final home what they desire it to be without increasing the price of the home.Business Response

I had previously messaged the BBB regarding this matter, case #********.Things were going well, Tri-Pointe had come out, we pointed out what was wrong, they even had their own professional come out and we all discussed what needed to be done. Our contact with Tri-Pointe ***************** assured us that everything was going to be taken care of, that the parts had been ordered and once they were in everything would be resolved. Today was our appointment for things to be resolved. Instead of fixing all the agreed upon issues, there was only 2 fixes made. We still have 6 drawer cabinets that are not closing smoothly, cabinet doors that are not aligned correctly, and other issues that we were assured would be remedied. At this point it has been over 2 years, and multiple contacts with Tri-Point and their various contacts to fix an issue that still has not be resolved. We would like them to finish the job once and for all, or to refund us the money we spent on the upgrade cost so we can hire our own person so we can finally fix the issues without all the ** that has been thrown our way repeatedly.Business Response

Unfortunately, Tri-Pointe has shown that they are not good at keeping their word. This has been an ongoing problem for over 2 years now. Even with the current CSR from Tri-Pointe (Bill), things were promised and ultimately reneged upon. Until such time as ALL the work is completed, or a refund is issued for the amount paid for the cabinet upgrades so that we can find someone ourselves who will actually complete the work without all the ** we have had to endure we will not consider this issue closed.Business Response

It is evident from the consumer's latest complaint/response that he is not using the BBB platform for its intended purpose or in accordance with its rules. The required criteria for a BBB complaint include that the complaint seeks assistance from the BBB and that it contains no abusive language. Consumer's latest complaint/response fails on both counts. Tri Pointe Homes is being, and has been, responsive to the consumer and also is working with the consumer to resolve his concerns. It is not clear what assistance the consumer seeks from the BBB, and he has Tri Pointe's attention and has contractually agreed-upon dispute resolution procedures available to him if he is unsatisfied with progress. Tri Pointe will continue to work with and communicate with the consumer directly, but it will not use this platform to engage in an indirect back-and-forth discussion with the consumer about his concerns.Initial Complaint

I bought a house in ******* ** from this builder, Tripointe.Their system for the warranty care (for the first year) is terrible. It is not possible to get the help I need for many issues: For example, my floors are showing signs of potential buckeling. The landscaping, in particular the grass, was not watered for a month after the sodding so it is dead in patches. They allowed the landscaping company to plant bushes that look really bad dead (yes, I know plants die in the winter) but the neighbors on the same block had much better landscaping (the company changed the provider.) There are other issues that I can't report because they haven't sent me the link for the site and I have been asking for months. I only have until the end of April before the warranty is up. I am flabbergasted at the after-purchase care program. I expected much better service. At this point I can't recommend this builder to anyone. Finally after trying to get help for a time, someone from Tripointe came out here in Dec. He saw the problems and I was promised I'd get a link to the site so I could create "tickets" but I never got it I told him several weeks ago and still no help. I am not blaming him personally as I think it is Tripointe that is not supporting these representatives. . I have never had such poor service from a vendor such as Tripointe after the sale.Business Response

I purchased a home from Tri Pointe after waiting for 13 months since signing the contract. During the final walk, I identified a list of issues that Tri Pointe agreed to and committed to addressing within 30 days. It has been six months, and I emailed multiple times. But the progress is very slow or hardly any. Tickets are left open for months. For example, the kitchen countertop granite wasn't sealed, and a gap between the joints. It has been more than 3+ months with no action. I'm tired of explaining to my friends why I still have blue tape hanging in multiple locations in the house. I bought a home from a luxury home builder. But the after sales experience is very poor.Business Response

We closed on our new construction house April 28, 2022. At which time the yard was dying because the contractor did not water the grass for 4 weeks after installation and prior to closing, one tree was dead in the back yard, Tri Pointe promised to replace since this was a common issued for the 4 homes that closed April 28th and 29th. A new landscape company finished the remaining homes and installed irrigation systems which worked beautifully. Tri Pointe warranty person promised to repair/replace the lawns and trees in October 2022 but nothing happened. The vinyl floors are buckling in the living area and the warranty department came out and reviewed and promised to replace. It's been 2 months and no action has been taken.Tri Pointe was directed by the *** to plant bushes to hide the air conditioner n the side of the house. First we gave no permission to enter our property since we closed 6 months earlier and they have no right to perform work without our permission. Second they planted the bushes within 18 inches of the unit and prevents service to the unit, standard spacing is 3-5 feet from the unit. The warranty person was replaced in October 2022 but the new warranty representative is no where to be found. We have 4 month left in the first year warranty, everything needs to be repaired.Business Response
