Back in June 2024, I contacted TriPointe homes to understand more about their property located in ********, **. They refused to provide my any details via email, and told me I needed to schedule an appointment. As such, I scheduled a virtual conversation to understand more about TriPointe. The woman ran me through the website tools and told me if I had any specific questions to come visit the site and they would help. I decided not to pursue the property in *******, **. I instead spoke to my realtor and he mentioned a couple other properties by TriPointe including one in **********, ** and closer to the city of **********, **. Upon reaching out and asking about having my realtor join me, they claimed that The first appointment you had on 6.29 was virtual, but that still would count as your first visit to the community. And that They can represent you should you move forward with a purchase, but they would not qualify for a Realtor Referral fee. Now unless I pay out of pocket, no realtor is able to represent me for ANY of their properties because of a virtual visit I was pressured to take just to get guidance on how to use their website.Business Response

Tri Pointe Homes has an established referral fee program, which has eligibility conditions. As the consumer acknowledges, he visited (virtually) a Tri Pointe community he was interested in without involving his real estate agent. Under Tri Pointe's referral fee program, the consumer's real estate agent is not eligible for a referral fee, though the agent is still free to represent the consumer. Tri Pointe considers this matter closed.Initial Complaint

I purchased my home and closed 6/29/2022. I had issues from before closing and after that still havent been addressed. I have text messages saying they will fix issues and every time they came out, they caused more damages. They damaged furniture which they said they would pay for, still havent. I called the headquarters, and was told someone would be calling me, they havent. They also left property in my garage. Damages of what was started but never finished. I paid over 1 million for my home. This is considered a luxury townhome. But it was poorly built. Cracks in the wall that were suppose to be fixed. Framing issues. Light panels that look like a child nailed it down. If they cant fix the issues themselves properly, Im asking for 30k to find my own contractor to restore whats damaged and not addressed.Business Response

Tri Pointe Homes has left telephone messages for the consumer to call a Tri Pointe customer care representative to discuss her concerns, as Tri Pointe does not have sufficient information to evaluate the concerns. Tri Pointe asks that the consumer call Tri Pointe customer care directly to discuss this matter. Tri Pointe will update this response as necessary.Customer Answer

I rejected the response because I've been reaching out to them for the past 2 months prior to eliciting you all for help. Somemone should reach out to me if they're serious about resolving this matter. I've called, texted, and left voice messages. No one has gotten back to me.
I can be reached at ************

I bought a new Tripointe home in *******, ***** last year in June 2023. The builders never left any extra paint or limestone for us which is a normal practice for all builders. Their warranty team lead keeps changing and hence couple of our issues took weeks/ months to get resolved and we had to keep reminding them as the tickets on the system kept closing. Lastly, we had a water collection issue on our back patio. When they fixed it, it left our patio having 2 different colors and now they are denying to fix it. The ****** customer care manager came to our home as well and saw that the color difference is very visible but still they are suggesting that all they can do is skim coat which they know cracks. We gave them multiple options like stain or concrete paint but they arent doing any of it and leaving our patio with the color difference. Our experience during the building process was very good with them but then the customer care and warranty departments do not actually cater to customers.Business Response

Tri Pointe Homes met with the consumer earlier this month (October 2024). Tri Pointe explained that the discoloration of the home's concrete patio is cosmetic and not a warrantable item. Tri Pointe discussed the possibility of applying a skim coat on the patio, but given the significant risks of chipping/cracking as a result of such an application, the consumer declined. In addition, there was no "extra" paint or limestone at the completion of the build of the consumer's home. Tri Pointe considers this matter closed.Customer Answer

The color discoloration was never there from the beginning so I did not buy the house with it. The discoloration was caused due to the builders vendor coming to fix the grading issue in the patio. Had the discoloration always been there and we would still have bought the house as is, I would have agreed to the fact that it wont be fixed. We did give the builder couple of options like concrete paint or staining which potentially can resolve this.Business Response

why cant the business just not paint it or stain it? We have other friends in the same community having Tripointe homes where they had stairs in their backyard that Tripointe stained for them when they asked for it, they also gave them multiple extra things like inbuilt speakers along with the connections for no cost at all where as we were even promised some things like inbuilt speakers during our pre- possession walks but were never given those and only wiring was done. We were understanding of those things but this is a problem created by the business when they fixed another issue so they should fix this one.Initial Complaint

My HVAC system has had problems. I've had to contact HVAC technicians to access the problems and they have found there is a leak in the coils. When reaching out to Tripoint to help they refuse to speak about the problem and told me that it is my problem to deal with. The technicians stated that the builders should be responsible. Problem 2, my garage door gas been effected by wind and it has warped the door. Called tripoint to have the garage door fixed as tripoint was very aware of the problems that had happened to numerous of our neighbors and they still do nothing.Business Response

Tri Pointe Homes inspected the consumer’s HVAC system,
and it was determined that the consumer had not been properly maintaining the
HVAC system (as detailed in the maintenance manual provided by Tri Pointe to
the consumer at the time of purchase of the home). As a courtesy, Tri
Pointe installed new air filters. With respect to the garage door, after
inspection it was determined that the consumer altered the door by adding a
piece of lumber, which is interfering with the seal; there is no installation
defect or defect of any kind. Tri Pointe considers this matter closed.Initial Complaint

I require help holding Tripointe accountable for issues of low quality materials in my home. They come out to my house and tell me this is all normal and theres nothing they can do. Somehow its our fault.Im tired of arguing. I need my house fixed.Business Response

This is a new build home. Complaints start from the beginning of the process..almost missed close dates no communication etc. There were over 40 issues found on inspection and we were lied to about the completion of the repairs. Our AC has broken 4 times in two months. We have toilets coming out of the ground, the ceilings are bowing, the interior paint is cracking, we have no water pressure and no cold water. Our "stainless steel" appliances are actually plastic and are already falling apart. We have been promised fixes and repairs but they just keep lying to us. This is a 650k house and it is two months old. We have had more issues here than we had in our previous house in years of living there. They hire cheap unskilled labor and have supervisors who do not check anything. We have found live open wires behind light switches, and our ac panel almost caught on fire. We have 3 small children here and this house is a disaster waiting to happen..they have made no effort or comment to fix our issues and when they actually do say something it is a complete lie and nothing happens. All of our neighbors are having the same issues. We paid a lot of money for this house and it is terribly build and the whole process has been a nightmare four our family. I am also a disabled veteran. Please investigate, they are s******* people over and not doing anything to help.Business Response

Tri Pointe and this customer are working together towards resolution with repairs scheduled through August 30th.Customer Answer
Date: 08/21/2024
Scheduling BS repairs for items that should never have passed inspection shows both negligence and incompetence in your part. We have a 40 item spreadsheet (so far) of horrible craftsmanship and supervision. We have only lived here for two months and ha e had over 25 visits from people coming to do "repairs". I wouldn't call that working together. It is tripoint bullshitting around their horrible construction managers and lack of care for their buyers. I do no accept.

After seven months into the construction period, they encountered an issue with the foundation due to a water leak from a broken pipe. This incident occurred during the preparation for the foundation pour when a wooden stake was driven through the pipe.TriPointe did not inform me of this issue until I inquired about the closing date, raising concerns about whether they attempted to conceal the problem. Now, the builder is stating that we will not receive any money back if we choose to back out. We lost trust on TriPointe Homes Construction. It clearly shows their neglegence while constructing.Business Response

I purchased and closed my house with Tripointe homes , **************** in *********** ,** on April 19 2024. Recently our area got affected with a storm and it ripped off my roof tiles. I had contacted the builder and they are not ******* responsible for the repairs even though my home is under warranty. They are claiming that it is Act Of God and we are not responsible for the repairs. How come a new home not older than 3 months have the roof tiles ripped off. Only Tripointe built homes are affected with the storm in our community and other builder homes are not affected. Am getting poor response from the builder whenever I try to contact them. I lost faith and belief on Tripointe homes and will not refer to anyone.Business Response

Tri Pointe Homes sympathizes with the consumer about the damage caused by the recent storms. However, Tri Pointe was not the only builder whose homes were affected. Indeed, in a public announcement, the ************************ noted the following: "On the evening of July 24th[, 2024], several thunderstorms developed across the ************* area. These thunderstorms resulted in several microbursts, defined as downward acceleration of strong winds emanating from the parent thunderstorm . The stronger microbursts, the ones that produced the most widespread damage, came from an isolated thunderstorm that developed over north-central *******." The ************************ reported on the significant nature of the wind speeds and the property damage (and one death) that resulted. Tri Pointe's limited warranty excludes damages caused by this type of weather event. Tri Pointe encouraged the consumer to contact their homeowners insurance company. Tri Pointe considers this matter closed.Customer Answer

None of the homes built by other builders got effected by microbust in my community. Tripointe homes is simply sending a generalized message claiming that it is caused by nature.Business Response

My husband closed on a new construction townhouse in Dec 2023. Within just 6 months, we are dealing with roof leak. Warranty team is in the middle of resolving it, however, we are no longer able to use two areas of new home, we have fans and humidifiers in this room and garage. It is frustrating that within 6 months, we already have a roof leak and the roof was not properly inspected and installation was not done properly.Business Response
