I attempted to have my profile removed from Peoplewhiz.com however, they are requesting I send an ID to them. I do not trust sending my ID to just a random company I am not conducting business with or have a relation with. I need them to remove my online information.Business Response

On 17 June 2023, I received an alert from Norton/LifeLock that Peoplewhiz.com had reported my personal information. Upon attempting to remove my information from www.peoplewhiz.com/optout, I was informed that I would need to provide a photo ID to prove my identity. I am not going to send a copy of my driver license to an address or upload it online. None of the other brokers requested for a copy of my ID and did take it off without it.I do not want to give sensitive information to random companies to have our personal information removed. My internet security company notified me that my personal information appears in the People Whiz database. I went to www.peoplewhiz.com and started the process of requesting removal of the information of ******************* ****** in Sapphire, ** but this process seems to require that I send a copy of a valid ID. That is just plainly not acceptable to me and I would hope that it is illegal. They could email me a verification code but they choose a more personally invasive approach. I will not send more personal information to this company in order to have my personal information removed! I see that numerous other people have filed this complaint with the BBB but People Whiz continues this ridiculous practice in order to inhibit people from removing their records.Business Response

On 21-June-2023, I received an alert from NortonLifeLock that PeopleWhiz.com had and reported my personal information. Upon attempting to remove my information from www.peoplewhiz.com/optout, I was informed that I would need to provide a photo ID to prove my identity. Sorry..not sending a copy of my driver license to an address or uploading it online to some company I have never heard of. I understand that in this day in age, data brokers exist; however, others make it easy to remove our information. Maybe that same practice should be followed by PeopleWhiz. I received notification from Norton LifeLock that my personal information is on this data broker site. I requested removal from People whiz and verified via email. I was then told I had to upload or mail in a copy of my id. I have no intention of doing that! There is much too much fraud out there as it stands. BBB,My request is simple and straight forward, Peoplewhiz is selling my information online and it is a mix of correct and incorrect information. They do provide a mechanism to request the removal of such data. However, the pathway is to send via fax, online, or mail your driver license. This is brain dead stupid to send PII data to an unknown entity. Having already suffered my PII being access via a data breach, I will not willingly ever send that information into the wild.
