On 10/15/25, I emailed the following message to Seagate, with no response to date.Last year, a brand new LaCie Rugged **, made by Seagate, failed to recognize the password that I'd created for it. This followed two back-ups by that external **. This would've been a minor incident if I hadn't deleted files from my desktop's ** after confirming that the LaCie had successfully backed up those files. After notifying Seagate, they eventually asked me to send them that ** in order to copy those files to a new Rugged for me. When I finally received an external back from them, with what they claimed held the files that they recovered from my Rugged, I discovered this. The ** that they sent to me needed to be initialized. And I tried to access that data using more than one computer, with the same result. And yes, initializing it would delete any files that were on it. I brought this to their attention, and they gave me two different methods to (allegedly) sidestep the need to initialize the drive. None of which worked. For more than two months they told me that they were working on this issue on their end, as though they still had my dysfunctional ** available to them; which they never confirmed. When I offered this solution; ie: for me to send that ** back to them so that they could recover my data from it, they ignored that suggestion several times. Why would they ignore that solution? Well, that's simple isn't it. MY RECOVERED DATA WASN'T ON THERE AT ALL.Late last year they finally told me that there was nothing else they could do for me, and that they were going to close the case number. Recently, I sent that ** to a tech to recover any data that was on there. The result? I found out what was already strongly suspected by me... that NOTHING WAS ON THERE. The tech that reviewed it to me that it had never been used, per my suspicions. - CONSUMERS: PLEASE DO NOT TRUST YOUR DATA TO SEAGATE EXT. ** PRODUCTS!!

You cannot opt out of their emails.
I NEVER opted in for their emails.. and they only got my email from a purchase.
I get 5-10 emails from them a day.

Zero stars. I received the wrong product by their mistake and want me to drive an hour to drop it off to refund me for their mistake. If they would have just sent the correct product to me, and charged me if I didn't send the wrong product back; every thing would have been find. I will not buy products with this kind of customer service.

I had a few drives in my home *** fail this year and their RMA process has been an absolute nightmare. One drive was replaced with no real issue. When I did the *** for the second and third drives, I elected for the advance replacement option and was sent drives that were also dead. They ended up replacing those as well, but that was back in June. It is now October and they billed me over $800 for "non-reciept" even though the tracking shows they were delivered. Their support is less than useless and this process has been insufferable to say the least

Seagate is increasingly developing a reputation as a corrupt company. Its descent into chronic dishonesty and complete lack of customer service escalates yearly. They do not take their product seriously, a product which houses people's work, photos, family and legal documents, and more. Worse, they do not take their customers seriously, we who keep them in business and pay their salaries. Not only did a 4TB external hard drive suddenly and completely fail to be recognized on any device to which it was connected, but their alleged "recovery" of my precious data was returned on a hard drive that was ALSO NOT RECOGNIZED! That looks very, very bad. What is the likelihood of that?! A zero out of zero success rate does not a good reputation make. The Indian outsourcing is their main downfall. The people they have in charge of "customer service" have never used an external hard drive in their lives. They know NOTHING about Seagate products, and in addition to that madness, you can only "chat" with them online. Because they have no idea what they're doing, it takes them literally 5 to ************************************** the chats; Not seconds, but minutes. The end result? NOTHING. Your problem will not be solved. I plan to sue *********************** and I have spoken with other horrified Seagate consumers who want to start a class action suit against them. Never store your work or precious memories or life's work on a device purchased from Seagate. You will end up devastated by your loss - and they do not care.

I bought a brand new LaCie HD and it failed just over the 30 day return window. I sent it to Seagate for a warranty claim and replacement. They have had the drive for over 10 weeks now and I have still yet to get a replacement. The only form of communication is via web chat and it has proven to be highly ineffective. I would not recommend buying any Seagate or LaCie HDs if you are a professional that relies on HDs for your business.

Seagate ironwolf HDs failed and sent them in for a warranty repair Said HDs went missing (Rec'd on 21st of Sept by Seagate)All chat/email options were broken/not working in the site Attempted IT troubleshooting (inprivate/cognito, different sites, verified regional settings)Attempted to contact the only contact number available Explained issue to CSR Asked if I or they could file a tech support ticket for their own site CSR refused to file a ticket for their own website issues OR my missing HDs Literally was told that 'too bad, they're lost' on items by CSR rep ****** consider modifying who you subcontract to/retrain or hire new CSRs, as a member of the IT world, it is highly improbable your CSR team does not have the means to file an IT ticket for your site or track my items

My experience with Seagate has been dismal and frustrating! I purchased an external hard drive, and it crashed. I contacted them and had the data recovery option. I sent the original back, and they sent me two drives - one to replace the crashed one under warranty, and the second with my original data. BOTH drives are corrupted, and I have not been able to use either of them. No matter what port I plug the drives into, it ends up corrupting that port on the computer. I finally got a chat person (most likely a bot) and got a second case number but that's where it stops. I cannot get ANY contact other than chat, and they simply won't open a chat box. No possible way to call them. In short, I bought a drive and now have no drive or my data. Absolutely no way to contact them or get any answers. I wish I could give them a negative 5 rating.

Recently sent in a failing 8TB ironwolf pro drive for ***. Seagate sent me a *** label and I sent it packaged properly. Drive was delivered without any issues. Here start my troubles. No email updates whatsoever for 3 weeks. I continue to contact support via the message links and each and every time their response is "Once a package is delivered, it generally takes our warehouse 3-5 business days to process the product, before it shows as received within our return system. Once your hard drive has been processed, you will be notified via email." I sent the *** in on 6/30 and it's been more than ******************************************** any email. Henceforth I will be moving away from any Seagate product if their support is so bad.
