To whom it may concern, I found a pet on pet finder, reached out and started the adoption process. The dog was out of state but was advertised as having monthly transport to my area. I said that would work, and went through with the adoption. On pet finder the fees are advertised ******* for adoption, so I assumed it would be in that range especially for a 7 year old dog. I had my roommate play date and a house check. Was approved and was sent the contract as well as the adoption fee for the first time, a full $250 more than they advertise. There was a pick up date, and no stipulation on when payment was required. In private written communication they said they needed funds August 14th, to finalize travel plans. I agreed and promised to have payed in full by the 14th. No where in the contract do they state they still advertise the dog under while under contract. They arent adopting out dogs, they are selling them. They gave it to the person who gave them cash first regardless their contract. They broke my contract without cause and also expect it to be legally binding for others. They did say they dont hold dogs, but that was not until after the contract was signed, and a payment date agreed to. A underhanded and intentional non disclosure, and intentional contract manipulation. How can it be for the betterment of the dog, when this is straight up who handed them cash first. They should have never been allowed to adopt it from under me. Shady companies like the barking-lot give all rescues a bad name, and are essentially puppy ***** that specialize in rescues. In a month where many shelters waived fees, they raised them, on a pet that had been saved from a kill shelter. The ethics of selling a dog scheduled to be euthanized is insane. To use them to solicit money from multiple people at the same time should be illegal. The biggest problem is that there was no set timeline for payment in the contract, and the only one agreed to hadnt arrived yet.

Ok this is length but I had a very poor with the owner ***** at the Barking Lot. I recently adopted a dog from there, 2 days after adoption while my son was walking her, she got out of her leash and ran off. I, along with about 10 people searched for her for the next 8 hours non stop, in and out of canyons. She had a GPS tracker that did not show accurate information, but according to ***** it did, but when it shows me on a street when Im clearly standing in a canyon, I find that that be wrong information. Anyways, I contacted ***** the next morning at 7am to let her know the dog was lost and the tracker was now dead. Contract states I was to notify her immediately, which I did not as it as 10pm at night and honestly I was focused on finding the dog and that is it. ***** texts me back over an hour later, she is completely negative, tells me I put that dog in grave danger and I better hope nothing happens to her. My son already feels guilty since he was walking her when this happens and now he feels that If something happens to her that would be his fault too. This is the weight ***** put on a child. ***** insists she is the only person that can find her and refuses to allow me to work with a pet recovery specialist that is known across the country for what she does. I work with her anyway. Long story ********************** is telling people in my neighborhood that the person put up flyers other than hers looking for the dog is looking to find it and sell it so she replaces my signs with hers. In the end ***** finds the dog, does not tell me for well over an hour, takes her and wont give her back. She tells me she will refund me and send a check out. ***** now refuses to respond to texts, emails and phone calls. Ive received an email response from a volunteer stating my adoption fee has been forfeited and the board would have to approve anything. Nobody will supply me information as to anybody on the board. I have informed ***** and the Barking Lot that if I do not receive a response I will proceed with legally. That is where I am at. *****, took my dog, owes me a refund and is now ignoring all communication. She is a thief. She is the owner whose intentions may be good having a rescue, but is a horrible person with no morals or professionalism. She should not be running a rescue and the other reviews Ive seen state the same.
