To whom it may concern, I found a pet on pet finder, reached out and started the adoption process. The dog was out of state but was advertised as having monthly transport to my area. I said that would work, and went through with the adoption. On pet finder the fees are advertised ******* for adoption, so I assumed it would be in that range especially for a 7 year old dog. I had my roommate play date and a house check. Was approved and was sent the contract as well as the adoption fee for the first time, a full $250 more than they advertise. There was a pick up date, and no stipulation on when payment was required. In private written communication they said they needed funds August 14th, to finalize travel plans. I agreed and promised to have payed in full by the 14th. No where in the contract do they state they still advertise the dog under while under contract. They arent adopting out dogs, they are selling them. They gave it to the person who gave them cash first regardless their contract. They broke my contract without cause and also expect it to be legally binding for others. They did say they dont hold dogs, but that was not until after the contract was signed, and a payment date agreed to. A underhanded and intentional non disclosure, and intentional contract manipulation. How can it be for the betterment of the dog, when this is straight up who handed them cash first. They should have never been allowed to adopt it from under me. Shady companies like the barking-lot give all rescues a bad name, and are essentially puppy ***** that specialize in rescues. In a month where many shelters waived fees, they raised them, on a pet that had been saved from a kill shelter. The ethics of selling a dog scheduled to be euthanized is insane. To use them to solicit money from multiple people at the same time should be illegal. The biggest problem is that there was no set timeline for payment in the contract, and the only one agreed to hadnt arrived yet.Initial Complaint

The Barking Lot, ***** and the person who writes the descriptions about the dogs are providing false information in their descriptions about their adoptable dogs, at least one that I know of......and putting adopters/families/friends in a potential dangerous situation, and also sadly having the poor dogs returned due to lying by not updating descriptions of dogs behaviors after they've been returned by an adopter......People/dogs have been bit by at least one of their dogs, and they refuse to add that to their description to divulge the truth. I can add more specific details of the exact dog we adopted, the incidents that happened in the 8 weeks he was with **, and the experience of the return if anyone wants to hear that.....to be sure you know if you might try to adopt the dog we had to return.....These people, or at least *****, is dishonest, putting people and dogs in danger, profiting off of dogs being adopted and returned, and she should be held accountable.
