I have been contemplating on getting assistance with my tax debt. I have around 125k in debt. I got a call from Millennium Tax Relief. The gentleman explained how the processes would work. He told me that the service fee would be $500. I kept telling him that i didn't have the funds..i have been out of work for months now. The other day i received an text message saying that my 250 pymt would be taken out on 9/20/21. I still didnt have the funds, so called them to cancel it. Then i get another text message sating that i was still going to be responsible even though i cancelled it. This rep today tried to argue with me saying i signed something..no i didn't and i told them when i called that i want it cancelled and no longer use the service. I was NEVER told i would be responsible for that money

We have a signed agreement from the client signed from her IP address on 9/9/21 requesting service for a tax investigation. The investigation was completed on 9/14 and attempts to relay the information and options to reduce or eliminate her tax debt were attempted many times. Despite the fact that we completed a tax investigation, which is not a free service, we have never received a ***** from ***************.

I was initially advised that they would charge me $500 for the service. They then came back and wanted $***** and advised me that my tax liability would be eliminated. They also advised me that they would stop any *** garnishment or liens. This never happened. I had to get a deferral from the ***. They came back and advised me that that I would have to pay the full amount owed to the ***. They hung up on me when I asked for a refund and indicated that they did not do anything for me. This is a SCAM company. Please help me. **

Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2022/01/21) */ ************, Your account of case communications leaves out some very pertinent information. #1) We offered you 2 resolution options. We first offered you and installment agreement with penalty abatement...you did not like that. We then reworked your case and were able to get you in a position for an Offer in Compromise. The Offer, if accepted, would have reduced your tax liability by about $**, almost 50%...You did not like that either. Please note that in tax resolution you do not get to choose what best fits you regardless of what the *** is saying you need to do. #2) Tax Resolution options are largely based on your financials. In the initial interview you told us you had an annual income of $***. When we prepared your 2020 tax filing you had an income of $****. That drastically changed any opinion we might have had initially through no fault of our own. Based on your financials, the options we gave you are what the *** is willing to do to get your a fresh start. The decisions are based on your financials, the *** and current tax law. The decision have nothing to do with Millennia. All we can do is interpret the law and negotiate to the best of our ability for a resolution that fits within current tax law. At some point you have to be realistic about your expectations. Just like in a legal case, sometimes the decision goes your way, sometimes not, regardless you pay for the best representation you can get. We have spent 6 months working on your case and a refund for resolution services is not a consideration at this point. What we have not completed is your corporate formation. We would be happy to refund you that portion of your fees. Please let us know. Millennia Tax

Millennia Tax Relief began calling me trying to get me to do business with them. They claimed they could get my IRS debt lowered. I owe about *k to the IRS. I asked 3 different agents if I would be stuck in a situation where I would still owe the IRS the same *k that I owe, PLUS be charged money with Millenia Tax Relief. I was told NO all 3 times. I was told that Millenia Tax Relief would negotiate a lower fee for the IRS. I was never told about any other option, just that I would get a negotiated rate from the IRS. Millenia tax Relief charged me $**** and in the end I was offered a non collectible resolution. This resolution means I STILL owe the IRS $*000, plus now I owe Millenia Tax Relief $****. ***** ********* told me not to pay the IRS and just allow my debt with the IRS to fall off in a couple more years. That is NOT what i paid for and that is not what i was told would happen. A non collectible resolution should not cost $****. I want out of the loan that I am paying for.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/09/24) */ Please accept this letter as our formal response to the Complaint put forth by M. *******. Ms ******* contracted us for tax services because she needed help settling her outstanding back tax issues. She signed an initial Tax Investigation agreement on 6/18 and subsequently a Resolution Agreement on 7/6/21. Her outstanding issues were: - Approx $****** in back taxes due between her and her husband. - Her inability to successfully file back taxes - Her inability to successfully resolve the issues with the IRS Please note that by the end of July we had resolved all of the above issues. - The IRS accepted her tax filings - We successfully obtained a fair and beneficial resolution - If Ms ******* and her husband adhere to the minimal IRS requirements of the program they are in, they will pay nothing of the $****** tax liability currently due to the IRS. Ms ******* was placed in an IRS hardship program/status "Currently Non-Collectible (CNC)" This IRS status stops all IRS collection activity based on their current financial status. So despite rightfully owing $****** to the IRS and having a combined income of approx $****** a year they are currently paying nothing. One of the reasons this status is used is to run out the Statute of Limitation on tax debt. The IRS has 10 years to collect on tax debt before it is erased for a taxpayer's account. They will of course try everything they can to collect during that time. But, If you can obtain a status that makes you exempt from collections (CNC) you can run out the statute of limitations and never pay a penny on your tax liability. Yes there are some minor IRS stipulations! - You must stay current on all future tax filing. Everyone has to do this! - You cannot incur future tax debt or you will default on the program. If you owe taxes during the coming year(s) you must pay them at the time of filing. This is a habit that Mrs ******* will have to adopt. Failure to do this is what caused their IRS problems. Please note that a taxpayer can stay in this status indefinitely, as long as their income and financial status stay relatively the same. If next year their income doubles we would have to find the solution that makes the most sense for their financial status at that time. Note that we are not magicians. We must adhere, and taxpayers must adhere, to a clearly defined tax code. Every client wants their tax debt to magically disappear and show a 0 balance. Options for every taxpayer change based on multiple variables that the IRS takes into consideration at the time we present a case. The ultimate decision is not determined by the Taxpayer or Millennia, it is determined by the IRS. As such, no implied or expressed guarantee is given, as all of our contracts will bare. CNC status is the closest thing to having your tax debt erased since all collections activity have been halted. Please note that you will receive an IRS statement periodically. This is only a statement and NOT a bill for collection. Based on the result of the resolution, adjustments to our fees for service are not a consideration. Consumer Response /* (****, 7, 2021/09/29) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) This case belongs to ME, not me and my husband. I was NEVER behind on my taxes. my taxes were filed on time and the IRS had them. I did not need your company to get me compliant, nor did I contract with you about me AND my husband. This was just about me and the $**** I owe to the IRS. We do not make $***** a year, you are calculating unemployment that my husband no longer receives. He was cut off from that and our annual income is $*****. I contracted with your company about my DEBT not my taxes. My debt is still there and instead of paying money to the IRS, I am now paying money to you. So when you say I am not paying anything, that is not true. I am paying YOU $****. That is not right. You got me into a non collectible status with the IRS, but I could have done that on my own for FREE. What you did for me is not worth $****. Not only that, you claim to have gotten my husbands taxes taken care of, but the IRS has not done anything with his taxes. So what you are claiming to have done, is not done. I have called your company and left 3 messages and have not gotten anyone to call me back about my case in the past few weeks. First you kept calling me to do business, and now that you are paid, I cant get anyone to call me. Its like as soon as you got what you needed, I was left hanging. I am paying for something that I did not ask for. I asked for my debt to be lowered and you told me 3 times that you could do that, and you did not. So what exactly am I being charged $**** for? A non collectible response with the IRS does not cost $****. I would like this bill to be adjusted please. Any help is appreciated. NOTHING YOU SAID YOU COULD DO FOR ME HAS BEEN DONE. Thank you Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2021/10/12) */ In response to your communication: You were behind on your taxes as stated clearly by the IRS: --------------------------------- Comment posted by***************** on Thu Jun 24 10:17 AM 2021: IRS Agent Name: Mr. ********* IRS Agent ID: ********** Current Status: In Collections Balances By Years and CSED: 2015- $******* 6/20/26 2016- $******* 7/10/27 2020- $462.44 4/5/31 Total Owed: 9076.01 Unfiled Years: 17 Client Needs To File: 17 Client had no withholdings for any years Client had wages of 12k and 6k in unemployment for 2017 Used to be with a private debt agency CBE group but her debt was returned to the IRS ---------------------------------- You can say you submitted them but until they are acknowledged and posted to your account by the IRS it means nothing and nothing can be done until they are. The $****** figure is the info you submitted to us and if it is reduced it is far more reason that the CNC status best suited you. You contracted us to resolve the tax debt but in order to do that we had to resolve the issue you continued to have in submitting your 2017 taxes. We have the communications you sent to us stating that you have tried with no success. Yes, the debt is still there, but you are not paying that debt. If we got you a 66% reduction on the debt, would you be happy? If you pay nothing to the IRS, which is totally up to you and your bookeeping and filing habits moving forward, and you pay for our service, the total amount paid by you would be 33% of your original tax debt. Call it what you will, would you rather pay $**** or $****? Yes, You can do a lot of things yourself. You could have withheld more money from your pay...you did not! You could have paid your back taxes on time....you did not! You could have resolved the 2017 tax issue...you did not!! You could have represented yourself in front of the IRS... you did not ...you hired us! Your husband's case was CNC'd, so there is no longer any work to be done on his issues. Ms ******* stated: NOTHING YOU SAID YOU COULD DO FOR ME HAS BEEN DONE. We are a tax resolution company. Your tax issues have been resolved in the best possible fashion for your present situation.

I originally spoke with ***** ****** and he told me he was a manager and gave me the impression that they could help me save money on my final IRS payment of $****. I was charged $250 on 7/20/21 and was told by ***** ********* that I had to make this payment in order to move forward and that someone would give me a call back to follow up with my results. No one called so I called the following day and was told that because I did not owe enough, which I guess their minimum is of $***** owed to the IRS, they were unable to save me any money but only to give me an extension until august but was not given a date. I did not need an extension and apparently did not need their service because they were not able to help so I feel like I was scammed out of $250 for nothing. I have been calling and every time I am being told someone will call me back about getting a reimbursement and no one calls. I've left messages and emails. I would like my refund, this has been just a waste of my time.

This company told me that they could provide me services that they could not. The company gave me a false narrative of what my money was actually going toward. I received a notice that they could help me settle a tax debt, I called them and they informed me that they could settle all my tax debt for "x" amount of dollars. I started a payment plan with them. The process appeared to be taking months due to the fact they would not return my phone calls or emails. When they did, they would always tell me they did not have the information I was requesting. When they finally did call me with my solution, I was told I would have to pay more than six times that amount I had already paid them to actually settle the debt. The company clearly kept me in the dark for months to make sure they collected their payments that I owed them, they also knew that the verbiage they use is very misleading. I am now out thousands of dollars and the solution I was told would be done for me is nonexistent.

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2021/07/08) */ July 7, 2021 To: BBB Re: Complaint from Melisa ***** - Case #XXXXXX Please accept this letter as a formal response to the Complaint by Ms *****. Ms ***** states that we told her we could provide services that we could not. The fact is that we have finalized resolution for Ms *****, in the best possible fashion, given her circumstances. There are 3 basic options for clients 1) Offer in Compromise where we settle for less than the original debt, usually in the range of 25% of the tax debt, payable within months of the final settlement. The Hornes do not qualify. 2) Installment agreement - A settlement in which we do not reduce the tax liability and set up the best payment plan the IRS will allow. 3) CNC Status - Currently Non-Collectible Status - Again the tax liability is not erased but it is taken off the table so the IRS will not pursue active collections. A client can stay on CNC indefinitely as long as they keep current on their taxes moving forward and do not incur any further tax debt. Tax debt has a statute of limitations. When that limit is reached their tax debt will fall off their account, erased and forgiven for good. CNC is the vehicle that is used to allow the client to run out the statute of limitation so their tax debt will drop off their account. If a client maintains their CNC status they will never pay a penny to the IRS before the debt falls off their acct and is completely erased for good. Ms Hornes tax debt will start to fall off in 2023. Given her finances this is a great solution to get out of her approx $****** in tax debt. CNC is also the vehicle we use to stop all IRS action should the client decide they want to pursue an OIC which can take considerably longer to finalize. Unfortunately they do not qualify for an OIC. There were no false narratives since all was contained in the agreements she signed with us. We settled her tax debt for X amount, our fee, and she will end up paying absolutely nothing to the IRS as long as she keeps up her end of the deal, which is to file and pay her taxes moving forward, which by the way is what we all have to do anyway, including the *****'s. Process took a long time? Resolving Tax Issues is a process that cannot be turned on and off like a light switch. Ms ***** had 11 year of back tax issues. It is impossible to unravel that in a matter of weeks. In general tax resolution takes between 6-9 months under normal circumstances. We are working under anything but normal circumstances since March 2020 with covid. IRS processes that normally would take 3-4 weeks today take 4-5 months. I understand that every client wants magic to happen just because they pay us. But we are not magicians and are dependent on IRS processes and decisions. From initial contact to approval of CNC status took 90 days in this case (Jan 4 to Apr 6). And in contrast to what Ms ***** says we secured that status before she had fully paid for our fees. An OIC Offer in Compromise was pursued but again due to the clients financials the IRS has decided that they do not qualify. Being out of money? Ms ***** if you do nothing more than file your taxes on time from here on out and pay any yearly taxes due you will have paid $**** to settle your $****** in tax debt, saving $56,000. That I believe, in most people's eyes, would be considered an excellent resolution option with great savings. This has gotten you off the IRS radar and given you a fresh start without IRS pressure. Considering all of the work we have done to get you in this position, unfortunately a refund is not a reasonable consideration. Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2021/07/12) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Thank you for taking the time to explain this to me. If your company was thorough in your original explanation, I would not have felt betrayed. We were not told anything about the CNC when we contacted your company, we had no idea what it was, how it worked or that this would even be one of the options we were possibly going to fall under. We were told that you all were going to get us an OIC and that the $**** we paid you was going toward that. It was made to seem as if that $**** was us paying off our settled debt. We did have to sign the agreement with you all, but again we were not focused on a CNC because that was not what we were told you all were doing for this. I will say this though, the communication you have with your clients is terrible and that did not help me feel any better about this situation. ******** ignored me SEVERAL times, made promises to call me back on certain days and did not. Then before I sent this I was told that management would call me to go over the details of what was happening with my account. Again I received no response, this was the only way to get someone to take time to explain to me truly what was going on. Business Response /* (****, 12, 2021/07/14) */ Thank you Ms *****. We always try to to find the best resolution to satisfy both the client and the IRS. In this case we have gotten you out from under the IRS cloud to start anew. You will still get communications from the IRS probably monthly. These are not bills, these are statements. as mentioned as long as you stay current moving forward you will not have any problems with the IRS. They will hold up their side of the deal if you hold up your side. I apologize for any miscommunication there may have been. If you need further assistance you can always call me at XXX-XXX-XXXX x **** ***** ****

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/06/26) */ In response to Mr ********** communication. The case is not completed and it could not be completed due to the fact that Mr ********* has never submitted requested information in order to prepare and submit back taxes to the IRS. The original request for this information was mailed to him on 12/31/20. Submitting back taxes is always the first step in these cases and is required to get the client compliant prior to any final negotiation. These are IRS stipulations. When you go to any tax preparer you have to provide information to them to prepare the taxes. We need client cooperation in order to complete these cases. If Mr ********* is unable to provide the information, which he has never stated, we can come up with a Plan B to move forward, but we cannot just pull numbers from the air to submit to the IRS. His full cooperation needed. Once we get the information requested we are ready to move this case forward with no hesitation.
