We have a vehicle that was impounded by this business in ************. We did not receive notice of the impound. It was then moved to *********** without our knowledge. We were only able to locate the vehicle as we had a repo order out on it. The business is now attempting to sell the car without proper notifications to us of the impound, movement, or storage of the vehicle. They are attempting to collect excessive fees without giving proper notification to us of the vehicle impound and movement and have begun the process to sell it.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 04/25/2024

We recently made an agreement with the business to pay negotiated fees to pickup a vehicle. The company in question should have released the Lien Sale hold on the registration once we paid the fees and picked up the vehicle. It has been just about 2 weeks and when we went to sell the vehicle at auction there is a registration hold on it still. This needs to be removed immediately.

    Business Response

This complaint has been resolved as the owner of the vehicle as has picked up the vehicle.

The lien sale paperwork was sent out to the addresses that DMV gave Tony's Auto Center and had not informed DMV of the addresses change.

    Customer Answer

The car was picked up after having to pay additional fees and having to go through additional hurdles with the business to clear the lien listed in on it

11.15.25 Call AAA for a towing service. They sent Tony's Auto Center. They charge towing fees and took advantage of my elderly parents 75 and 76 years old and lied to them stating they could not tow the car to there home property . It had to be place in there towing yard. They charge $1495.00. Damage the back bumper loading it off into the yard.

On December 7th, at approximately 7:30 AM, our ****** Sienna was towed by a tow truck driver from Tonys Auto Center (via AAA Insurance Road Assistance) from our home. During the process of having our vehicle placed on the tow truck, a support beam that was placed under my vehicle to assist the van on the tow bed, snapped and damaged my back bumper. The back bumper came off and a clip that holds the bumper in place, broke. Along with this, the sensors of the vehicle did not work, due to many sensors from the vehicle being in the bumpers. The tow truck driver apologized to my husband and stated, ** sorry-this was all my fault. I will have them fix it and taken care of. The tow truck driver admitted guilt to the damaged bumper. Soon after, my husband contacted the company to inform them of the damage, and they stated they will fix. A representative named ****** stated he would have it fixed & they would pay for it. We told them we only take our car to ******, and they stated that was fine. Fast forward to today, December 19th, ****** contacted us and stated ****** was not paying for the damage. The repair for this is estimated at $1700. We contacted the company and they told us to figure it out-that they are not paying for anything. The tow truck company is completely at fault for a damage one of their workers did.

Tony's Auto Center did accept to pay for repairs not for a new bumper, the sensors are individually removeable and replaceable as well replacing the clip that was damaged not replace all of them. Tony's Auto Center feels that the customer is trying to take advantage of **********************'s agreement to pay for repairs.

I was traveling from ******************* to ************ and was in Downtown ************ the evening of 11/3/2023. I mistakenly parked where the sign was obscured as shown in the attached images. My car was towed by Tony's Auto Center the evening of 11/3/2023. I desperately called them and wanted my car back the same day but ****** who answered the phone said he could not do anything and to call the following day after 09:00 am to book an appointment. I called the following day and got an appointment for noon. A guy showed up but said he did not know how the handle the paperwork and to wait for the secretary. The secretary shows up 45 min later and hands me down an invoice of $681.00 dollars. I was shocked. I tried questioning the charges as these predatory towing companies are preying on unsuspecting people who are helpless such as me. Also since my car is a Model Y *****, I asked them several times if they used a flatbed to tow it and I got no definitive answer but I suspect they did not. I am not sure if the battery or braking system is damaged as these problems not surface immediately. I am willing to pay a fair price but I think the price they charged is unfair. Thank you for your time.

I called my AAA provider for a tow. My car would not start. Tonys was dispatched to my location. They told me 5 different hours times they were going to arrive. First they tell me 9pm and then they tell me 915 then 930 it just goes on and on and on. The tow guy calls me and asks me where my location is I asked him they didnt give u an address ? He said dont get smart with me do u need a tow? I said yes please come tow my car. He hung up the phone. He gets to me 45 mins later and gets out of the truck and asks me again if I need a tow I said yes I am on the phone with AAA as well. He says ok I refuse to tow your vehicle. He gets in his truck and leaves. Me as a women at 10pm at night in a closed parking lot. Extremely bad service. I am alone a women and its hitting 11pm at night in a dark parking lot. Very very bad.
