I was enrolled in the Youth Fitness Certification Program, and I completed the final examination, which was composed of 4 sections: 1 multiple choice section and 3 essay/short answer questions. I submitted the final exam for completion of the program. After my course expired, I received an email (screenshot attached below), stating: Dear ******, We have received and reviewed your YFT Examination. For ISSA to ***** your certification, we require the following correction(s) to be made to your examination. We want to begin by commending you on your efforts thus far. In the Learning Experience essay and the Case Study section of the test Section 4, your responses were too minimal, and we would like you to add more detailed information to your essay answers. You are lacking assessments, nutrition, and a 10-week program. Please make these necessary corrections and resubmit your exam at your convenience. Please adhere to these recommendations/requirements and make the needed corrections so that we can commence with the grading process. If you need any assistance, please feel free to call or email me. Once you resubmit your exam with the necessary corrections, we will then review your entire examination and notify you of your certification status. If you ever need any assistance, please feel free to contact us either via phone at ************* or via email at ISSA Educational Support ***************************************************************** I wrote back in appeal. (1) my course expired, and to resubmit, that would mean paying for the course AGAIN and submitting all quizzes and final exam answers again. (2) I was never provided feedback for the other three sections. Mathematically, the final section alone would not be sufficient for me to fail if I had passed the other three sections. (3) The directions on the exam never stated a minimum word count, and my response DID have all the sections they were asking for, (4) ISSA is yet to respond to my email and only marked exam as failed.

This company called my husband and coerced him into an agreement with them for personal training classes. Initially my husband attempted to reach out to no avail to commence the program and the woman he spoke to did not know the proper instructions to give him. They are saying this was in February, now we are in October and they just took $199 off his card and are saying he owes them close to $2000 more, not to mention oh the class has expired. They have a good scam going here, especially because they wont let you off the phone talking about some verbal signature, which not to mention he never gave.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/11/2022

In response to this review, ISSA has reviewed the student's account and this is in response to the student vs. the wife of the student that filed the complaint (who is not the actual customer).  The customer purchased the course in February 1, 2022 of this year, and according to the account notes, it looks as though many calls were placed to the student between February and September 30th via Student Success and ***************** Services that went unanswered though several voicemails that were left.On 10/3/2022.

According to the notes, it looks as though the student's wife called and spoke with ********************* in ***************** Services and was informed that the student (her husband) was not eligible for a refund given that this was several months post-enrollment.  Her husband agreed to the purchase and was recorded as agreeing to the 7 day return policy.

The student's wife (*******************) that the student was not eligible for a refund of money collected, to which she/**** said that she would speak to the bank to challenge the payment made. All of that said, the student's official date of course expiration was 10/1/2022, therefore given that he has not used any of his allotted extensions, he has the opportunity to extend each of his courses by at least 4 months (which would take him to 2/1/2023), and if needed to de-escalate the situation, we could certainly work with the student to allow additional time as/if needed considering that he enrolled in six courses at once.

If interested in extending the time we can support that, but based on the agreed policy from the purchaser they would not be eligible for a refund as this was past the 7 day period that was stated in the contract.  Please reach out to us and we will support the extension.
