On 1/12/23 i took my 2022 Acura MDX for an oil change/B1 service. When I returned to pick up my car, I was told it would be a little while because they had just sent it to be washed. When my car came back I started to drive away and noticed the windshield was now cracked. When I brought this to the attention to Summer, the service advisor, she went and got the service manager. They went out to look at the car. They immediately took the offensive implying my windshield was very pitted and it was inevitable. The manager said it was due to major temperature differential of a "hot" windshield and the cold water of the car wash. The ambient temperature at the time was 70 degrees fahrenheit. Early in my career I worked as a Failure Analyst, so asked for some additional information, such as:- What was the water temperature of the car wash? To determine what the temperature differential between the water and windshield.- What type of equipment was used? This was to understand the pressures it could create.- How much pressure the overhead brushes exerted? - How many incidents of cracked windshields did they have? The only information I received is:- He estimates the car wash water was approximately 50 degrees fahrenheit - He claims he went out latter in the day and the temperature of a car sitting in the lot was 100 degrees fahrenheit. In my opinion this was his attempt to obfuscate the issue by adding 30 degrees. This is irrelevant because my car went from the service area to the car wash. This is also why I asked how often it happens, because the next step would be when. Do they see an increase in cracked windshields in the summer when the temperature ambient temperature is 100 degrees plus and the interior temperature of the cars can be even higher? There was a small pit at what appears to the point of origin, which I have attached a picture of. But it was not a "Star" which are normally the cause. I believe they are culpable.
