In May 2022, my lease ended with Century 21. Despite moving out at the end of my lease, I was charged for an additional month of rent that I do not owe. I was never notified of this balance and was unaware of the charge until May 2025, when I attempted to apply for a new rental and discovered it on my ********* that time, the account had been turned over to US Collections West and had accumulated interest, inflating the balance to approximately $3,000. I was told by a case manager that I could settle the matter for $2,500 upfront, but I cannot afford to pay that amount.This charge is preventing me from being able to secure housing for myself and my children. I dispute the validity of the charge since my lease was completed in May 2022 and I did not remain in the unit beyond that date. Additionally, I was not properly notified of the debt at the time it was created.I am requesting a resolution that either removes the invalid charge or provides a fair and affordable settlement option that reflects the circumstances.Business Response
