Go anyplace else!If the student is just starting out, they'll insist on the Parent Plus loan, so the parent is responsible for 30+% of the loan.The master promissory note (MPN) is the "contract" you sign. It has a sneaky clause they can add additional loans on under the **** AND THEY WILL. So the amount you sign the "contract" for is meaningless. It's going to be much much more. And guess what? They don't even have to ask if you want that, agree to that, or can afford that. They don't even notify you. You find out later when making a payment (or, in my case, thinking you're paying off your portion of the loan) only to find out additional loan(s) have been added, so your your joy you are paying off the debt is replaced with horror and confusion that you owe a lot more money.Totally unethical sand should be criminal.So beware, BEWARE!!!!

All financial Aid packages are thoroughly reviewed with each student and parent if necessary, prior to the student beginning school. Parent plus loans are an additional resource that parents have to help their dependent student pay for their education. Parent loans are credit based and must have written consent prior to approval, which we required from all parents. Master Promissory Notes (MPNs) are held by, created by and required by the department of education for all student or parent loans. Their terms and conditions are explained in detail prior to a parent or student signing the **** MPNs can be used by a student or parent for up to 10 years. This allows student to go through multiple years of schooling without having to complete another MPN for their financial aid every year. All of our students are given and sign a financial aid offer which details all of the funding the student and parent are consenting to. So the total amount of any loans has been determined prior to a student starting school. No additional funding is ever added without express written consent from the student or parent. A financial Aid Coordinator is on campus, students and parents meet with them prior to school to discuss and decide on financial aid packages. The financial aid coordinators are available to discuss any financial questions or situations a student or parent might have as they progress through school or after graduation. **************** and communication are important to ** and we strive to help all students have a positive experience as they navigate the financial aid process.

What your protocal states and what occurred are two very different things. I never even got a signed copy of the original MPN, even though I requested one.I was NEVER contacted concerning the additional loan. As I already stated, I didn't find out about it until I went to pay off my Parent Plus portion and found out that, instead of being paid off I had a new loan with thousands more debt. In my files you'll find no signed "express written consent" because none exists. I stand firm on my review because it is what occurred - fact.
