    My upstairs heater stopped working and I called ******** for an appointment. It was explained clearly that there would be a $95 service charge which would be applied to the cost of any repair. I agreed.The tech arrived on-schedule and diagnosed my unit. He then presented me with two options: $500 to "repair DC wiring" or $1,400 to fix the wiring and replace a capacitor, which he suggested strongly.I was shocked at both estimates, the lowest being many times more than what I expected the repair to cost. I had also previously priced the capacitor in question for replacement at between $9.00 and $20.00.I am a tradesman myself and more than willing to pay for professional services and reasonable markup on parts, however the ******** quote amounted to between $500 and $1,300 per hour and the markup on parts at around 500%-1000%!I sent the tech away and agreed to the $95 service call for no ***********'s where it gets interesting, however; I looked the unit over myself and discovered that my wife had broken the wire from the thermostat to the unit in a somewhat obscure location. 5 minutes (no exaggeration) later, I had spliced the broken wires and the unit was operational again. Had I elected to completely replace the thermostat wire (4-wire cable) from thermostat to heater over a distance of about 20 feet, it may have taken another 30 to 40 minutes!******** is not just up-selling their product, they are guilty of egregious over-pricing and mis-representing the need for and extent of repair. My situation with ******** is no different from (nor quoted much less) than a mechanic recommending a transmission replacement when adding a quart or two of fluid would have done the job.Based on my experience, ******** is taking advantage of consumers by preying on their lack of knowledge regarding the systems in question. They have no ethics and should not be in business.

    I only agreed to the $99 membership cost because I was scheduled on June 13 from 7 AM to 12 PM to have an HVAC check. I am having issues with my blower motor I am a person with a disability with medical documentation that states that I have to have fully working air conditioning due to my medical situation. Therefore I was OK with being scheduled on June 13th. I get a call today from a very rude representative in this business telling me that people with no AC are now priority, even though I was scheduled days ago for this appointment and they cant get to my house now until the FIRST of July. Otherwise I have to pay for a service call to have someone come out sooner which is a scam. The whole point of the membership was to have the one free HVAC and plumbing per year that I could call and have it set up for them to come out and check before I have to pay any money upfront. Now that is a deceitful practice because I was scheduled and she removed my appointment without my consent for June 13. I want a full refund because you guys use deceptive tactics to get people to buy your services, then lie to the customer 3 days later about it. You lied to me and you scammed me and now I want my money back I will be filing a chargeback with my bank for service not provided when I had an appointment scheduled if you do not refund me. The resolution to this is my full refund and I will never do business with you again. I think this business is just treating me bad now because I was unable to afford getting a water heater replaced by them when it was almost $5000 because before that they treated me real good after that theyre treating me bad not wanting to honor my appointment that was set for the last three days.
