1 starI have been a loyal customer with Bank OZK for several years, which makes it especially disappointing to feel as though I’m being treated like a new customer. The level of customer service I’ve experienced recently has fallen far short of expectations.
For the past month, I have been trying to open a savings account through the online portal — a feature that is clearly presented as available. However, each time I attempt to move forward, I’m told that I must visit a local branch in person. As someone who works a full-time 8–5 schedule, this is extremely inconvenient and defeats the purpose of offering online functionality.
Additionally, I’ve been asked to submit my identification multiple times — despite having already provided it through MY secure portal and email on at least six separate occasions over the past month. It’s extremely frustrating to keep fulfilling the same request without any resolution.
Responses are either delayed by several days or consist only of generic, automated replies directing me to visit a branch or call the 800 number. This lack of meaningful engagement makes it very difficult to resolve even simple requests. Quite frankly, it makes it very difficult to remain a loyal customer.
I sincerely hope Bank OZK will reevaluate how it supports long-term customers and address these gaps between what is advertised as accessible online and what is actually possible.Bank OZK

The Bank has identity verification checks in place to help prevent account takeovers or fraudulently opened accounts and is exploring options to improve the customer experience. A Bank representative called the client and assisted in opening the account via telephone and DocuSign.Review fromTammy J

1 starWorst experience ever. I deposited a check yesterday via the ATM that was made out to my husband and I. I deposited it into an account that is in my name only. The ATM took the check and credited it into my account but then took it back out later. I called the bank who said my husband has to go with me and sign the check in front of a teller. Also, they cannot get the check out of the ATM until Saturday or Monday because that is when someone comes to service it. I was all about using a small hometown bank but not anymore.Bank OZK

The third-party check deposited at the Automated Teller Machine was reversed the following day as it was not made payable to a signer on the account. A letter explaining the issue was mailed to the client with an indemnified copy of the check. 1 starAfter almost 13 years I'm finally done with the nonsense. Bank OZK's formula for customer service? Customer Service = high customer aggravation and annoyance. Bank of the Ozarks (OZK) has always been just so, so. Now I'm so aggravated with THEIR mistake that I now have to jump through hoops to fix. I'm moving my account to a bank that actually provides trouble free service.Bank OZK

The complainant visited a branch to add a non-profit as a beneficiary to a personal checking account. An employee executed this request despite not being within Bank policy. The Bank made numerous calls, from different extensions due to poor reception, to notify the complainant of the error. The complainant was not satisfied with the Bank’s decision to reverse the account revision, and branch staff attempted numerous calls over the next few days to provide alternative solutions.Review fromTERRY S

1 starAfter reading these reviews, I feel even worse. I am 62 years old and have always had a boat. I bought a new Tri-toon 7 years ago. I financed the boat and was wondering why all of my payments were going to interest Only? I started with $57000 and now my last payment went all to interest and no principal. After 7 years I still owe $46294.70? Only $10706 went to the boat and I paid $32000 in interest. So what they do is make it so you cant trade it in, or sell it. I have had many Boat loans and I would keep a boat for 5-6 years and trade it in and have never been so upside down on a loan like this. They really need to be investigated. It was only @ 7.9 interest rate?Bank OZK

The borrower has a simple interest loan, and a review of the payment history reveals that the payments were applied in accordance with the loan documents. Interest accrues daily and payments are applied first to interest with the remainder going towards reducing principal. 1 starOn 1/7/25 I tried to deposit a check at the Lonsdale branch. After waiting in my car for some time I asked what the delay was. I was then told it would take a few more minutes. I went into the bank for an explanation and was told that neither of the only two people, in the bank, had the authority to deposit my check because it was over their limit. After stating that I didn't have the time to waste while they tried to figure out what to do I was told "You have only waited 10 minutes" and he asked what my profession was. When I told him that I was retired his comment was "Then you have lots of time.". That was when I tried to close my account and was again told that my account amount was over the limit he was authorized to handle. Believe me, you can't make this up. The client visited the Banking Center to transact a large deposit which required a supervisor override. The supervisor was not currently in the office and there is no evidence that the staff requested supervisory support from another banking center prior to the client leaving with the deposit. 1 starI would give less than 1 star if I could. I won't even mention how long it took OZK to close a property loan for me. I paid this loan off on July 3rd of 2024. It is now the end of December and I still don't have a deed or even a release letter. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a bank. Do yourself a favor and stay away from OZK!Bank OZK

The customer’s loan release was filed on July 15, 2024, following the loan being paid off in full on June 28, 2024. The Bank only sends a Paid in Full letter and/or a copy of the release upon request or when required by state law. As Arkansas has no such requirement, the Bank will mail the borrower a copy of these documents in response to this complaint.Review fromPere F

1 starI am also having lots of problems with OZK Business since they upgraded their platform a couple of week ago. All of a sudden the connection with WISE that used to work seamlessly, cannot be reestablished. Of course, OZK says that is WISE's fault even if they know that the most likely scenario is that their platform upgrade is at fault. The most annoying is that nobody seems to care about my problem and the fact that my business cannot operate. PLAID, one of the most popular third party bank verification platforms says clearly that OZK Business does not work with them. YODLEE does not seem to handle OZK newest upgrade. Between the ones and the other, like many things in life, what started as a love story (I really loved these OZK guys) now has totally lost control.Bank OZK

1 starBozk has good rates but horrible customer service.The original branch closest to me had a completely incompetent bank manager who new nothing of IRA's She had an appointment with me and informed me she had to clean her office first.She had to have my other bank walk her through it our previous visit .I've changed branches,we'll seeBank OZK

The Bank was able to assist the customer with her Individual Retirement Account (“IRA”). When she arrived at the branch for assistance, an employee asked her to wait as the office was being cleaned and disinfected due previously meeting with an ill customer. When assisting the customer, the branch employee contacted the Bank’s internal IRA department and never involved another financial institution.Review fromNancy A

1 starYou can call this bank and be put on hold for an hour, before giving up. They must have one phone to handle all their offices. I'm 74 and have dealt with numerous banks but have never seen such lousy service. Mistakingy used this bank to finance a trailer for a short period as the rv company uses them,. If I can ever get them to answer am planning to get a payoff. Terrible bank! I'd give a negative 5 star if it existed.Bank OZK

1 starI went to the Bremen, GA branch today around 10 a.m. to make a deposit. I initially went to the third lane but saw it was closed. I drove back around and got in one of the first two open lanes. Then a guy drives up in the third lane and tells them to send the deposit container so he can make a deposit. Surprisingly, they do this. There is a man behind me waiting so I tell him the third lane is open. When he goes there they tell him it’s closed. I ask staff why they let the man in the white truck make a deposit. They said it was a quick transaction. I ask wasn’t it the same transaction as mine and others waiting our turn? No answer. Could it have anything to do with me being a woman and the other customer who was privileged being male? Obviously, they don’t value all of their customers equally.Bank OZK

The referenced drive thru lane contains the Automated Teller Machine (“ATM”), and a customer was asked to pull around because the lane was backing up and blocking the ATM. The lane was then closed. However, the cannister was sent out to help another customer despite the lane being closed. The branch staff has been coached to keep all three lanes open and to perform customer transactions during drive thru hours.
