I notified this company on 4/25/2022 that their services were requested to check my mother's HVAC system. The unit wouldn't stay on and had flipped the breaker outside next to the unit several times. They responded in a timely manner and ended up coming to her house that morning to check on the issue. We were told the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced along with a couple of other minor things. It was going to cost somewhere are $****. We were also given the option to replace the unit given the fact that it was already 11 years old. I filled a claim with Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company and started the process for repair or replacement. The heating and cooling business is responsible for completing a 1-page form stating what the issue is and how much it is going to cost to repair. There is also a space to provide information on the cost of replacing the unit. I spoke with the representative for this business at 4:15 in the afternoon on 4/25/2022 and emailed him a copy of the form that needed to be completed. I spoke with him again, 3 days later and he assured me he would complete the form and email it to HSB as soon as he could. I called the morning of 4/29/2022 and left a message stating the form needed to be completed because she is 72 years old and without air conditioning at the end of April in Alabama. I never heard back from them and had to leave a message that afternoon stating we would have to call someone else to check the unit if they couldn't complete the 1-page document and return my call. I ended up calling another company the morning of 4/30/2022. They came out around lunch that day, replaced the breaker outside by the unit and her HVAC unit has been working ever since. That cost $**** I haven't heard back from McCollum Heating and Cooling since, they never even responded. Please beware and get a second opinion. It saved my mother considerably.
