    Complaint Type:
    Billing Issues
    Status:

I opened a line of credit with Mobiloans on 04/16/2021 with a $1,500 limit. I made several payments totaling around $450 before the account was charged off on 09/30/2021 with a balance of $1,896. The core issue is that Mobiloans is inaccurately reporting this account to the credit bureaus in violation of multiple provisions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Specifically, they have included ambiguous remarks like "payment after charge-off," reported an over-limit balance of $1,896 without clear contractual authorization, and prematurely charged off the account after only 5 months of activity. I have made multiple attempts to resolve this directly with Mobiloans. On 4/4/2024 and 4/5/2024, I sent detailed dispute letters identifying the specific FCRA issues and requesting a deletion of the tradeline. However, Mobiloans failed to conduct a proper investigation, summarily dismissed my claims as "frivolous," and refused to make any corrections to my credit report. Mobiloans advertises their products as a way to access credit and meet financial needs. Instead, their improper handling of my account and disregard for the FCRA's accuracy and dispute investigation requirements has unfairly damaged my credit profile. I am seeking the BBB's assistance in getting Mobiloans to meet their obligations under the FCRA, delete the inaccurate and unverifiable information from my credit report, and implement better policies to ensure they properly investigate and respond to consumer disputes going forward. The company's conduct so far has been unacceptable and warrants a serious response to prevent further harm to myself and other consumers.

They charge too much interest for a small loan. Unbelievable. Need them to fix my payments and interest rate and the 12-month document. I need some help, to lower payment so it can be affordable. * ** ** ***

Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana - DBA: Mobiloans Response

    01/23/2024

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this review. We have also reached out to the consumer on this matter. When an application for a line of credit is made on the internet and not through personal interaction, we have to rely that customers have thoroughly researched our product, have read and understood all of the costs and terms associated with the line of credit we offer, and made the decision that Mobiloans is the best option to meet their needs. We have provided in great detail the processes and fees associated with the Mobiloans line of credit on our website www.mobiloans.com. This information was available for review prior to submitting an application and accepting the first cash draw. Under the “Terms & Conditions” tab, consumers are advised that the account is a Line of Credit and while we do not charge interest, there is a Fixed Finance Charge incurred each billing cycle there is an unpaid balance. There is also a Cash Advance Fee for each cash draw. Mobiloans’ product is an open-end line of credit that allows a customer to access credit, pay down, and borrow again. Customers that continually make draws of available credit will not see a decrease in their outstanding balance or payments. We hope that this response has been helpful. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact our Customer Support Team at the phone or email address provided in our letter to you.
