Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes

I received a friend request from “Julie Leach.” After I accepted, the conversation started off very nicely with a “How are you? Hope you’re doing well.” Then she told me I had been picked by a computer to receive money she was sharing from winning the lottery and asked if I was ready to claim my gift.

I asked what that involved, and she said they needed to know where I worked and what I planned to use the money for, and that I just needed to fill out a form. I told them I was not going to give out that information, and they became very defensive. They sent me a picture of an ID card and said, “Not here to play games. Now are you ready to fill out the claim?”

I said I didn’t know them and would not be giving out my information. They then said, “All I need is your address and full name. Now are you ready to fill out the form?” At that point, I blocked them.

Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill - Coaching Moments LLC IMPOSTER

My accounting office received a very legit looking email directly to her for executive coaching services we never engaged in or requested. The letter said our account was unpaid and overdue. I have never heard of the company that sent the bill. The email advised my employee to see the invoice, which was not attached. My employee then sent an email stating the invoice was not attached, after which another very formal letter with her name as well as mine with a W9 and an invoice for over $32,000. I tried calling their number and got a recording. The invoice requested payment to The Bancorp Bank in Sioux Falls, SD and had all the details, such as account number and beneficiary, which was listed as a Peter Armbruster. The letter to my office was sent by a Julie Brimley and the phone recording was to a number held by Jennifer James. I do not know any of these parties

Employment

I was contacted on October 15, 2025, by someone claiming to be Julie Mink, Talent Acquisition Manager at Elevance Health. The email appeared legitimate and referenced actual Elevance job postings on LinkedIn. Using a Gmail address, the impersonator initiated a supposed hiring process for a Digital Solutions Director position. After reviewing my résumé, “Julie” claimed my application didn’t pass the company’s ATS (Applicant Tracking System) and referred me to a “resume specialist” named Carmen Westfall at Abundance Career Solutions, who also used a Gmail address. Carmen requested a $300 payment for résumé optimization, insisting I send it via PayPal Friends & Family, then Payoneer, and finally through direct wire transfer to an account under Abiodun Oluwapamilerin Ajibola at Lead Bank, Kansas City, MO. When the Payoneer payments failed, she provided bank routing and address details for a manual wire transfer. Shortly after payment, both scammers continued to engage me with fake “updates” about my hiring progress, requesting additional paid documents (cover letter, statement of purpose, etc.) for $480. I grew suspicious due to repeated payment issues, Gmail domains, and inconsistencies in names and photos. I verified through Elevance Health’s official website that these communications were fraudulent. I immediately contacted Wells Fargo to initiate a stop payment and fraud investigation and filed a report with Elevance Health’s corporate fraud team. Why I Believe This Was a Scam Elevance Health recruiters use official @elevancehealth.com email addresses, not Gmail. The scammers requested multiple payments through unprotected personal payment methods. The LinkedIn photo for “Julie Mink” does not match the scammer’s profile image. Elevance Health confirmed they never charge candidates or refer them to paid résumé services. Action Taken Reported to Elevance Health’s Fraud & Security Department Contacted Wells Fargo Fraud Division to recall wire transfer Preserving all documentation (emails, receipts, Payoneer screenshots) for law enforcement Preparing reports for FBI IC3 and FTC once systems resume operations

Other - Puppy Scam

I messaged Julie on Facebook about adopting one of her puppies. She sold us one. We put a deposit down ($400). Then, we were notified by her that there was a family emergency and to get ahold of her shipping company. She wanted to ship the puppy on 9/26 (and they said she did ship, but never got delivered). We weren’t supposed to pick her up until 10/5. When I got in contact with the shipping company, they said there was a $499 fee for the crate rental to transport, then there was a $899 fee for transport insurance. The shipping company (Inter Express Shipping Services) took those two payments. They then told us there was a fee of $1000 for a quarantine fee. We told them we weren’t paying it and wanted our puppy, and they still have not delivered our dog 3 hours later.

Online Purchase - Julie / Marketplace buyer

I posted an item for sale on Facebook marketplace. Someone commented on one of my facebook photos saying their friend was interested in the item for sale, but they were not able to message me directly. So they gave me a phone number to contact. I texted the phone number and was chatting back and forth regarding the item. Was arranging for pick up and payment. I asked for cash, but they said they didn't have cash and wanted to pay via venmo or zelle. I sent them my venmo account. The person said they needed my email to complete payment (sending me screenshots of the payment decline). I gave them my email address. Then I got an email from "[email protected]" saying urgent and I needed to call them. I called, but thought it was very suspicious so I ended the call. I verified with Venmo that the email is NOT a Venmo email. I forwarded the scam email to Venmo.
