Various callers leave messages advising you are about to be served legal “documents”, which you must sign for, regarding “a complaint received in our office”. The message always follows the same script and provides a “case number” and an 866 toll free number to call. The caller says “documents are being prepared for delivery and if we cannot reach you at home, we will contact you at your place of employment”. The caller says “this call has been logged and recorded as proof of our efforts to notify you”.
