Called Avis rental car to try and find a car to rent since the website was saying there were none available in my area. I found the number online and asked if they had had any availability then the person on the other line played along as if I was making a reservation. He asked for my name and card info and then wanted me to make a $500 payment plus $125 for the reservation thru a link that he emailed me. When I said I had never experienced this before using their service, he got aggressive and started yelling that it was a new policy and rushing to send the money. When I refused he hung up on me.
