We received at least nine phone calls trying to reach my wife claiming to be from Financial Recovery Services. The numbers kept changing and we didn’t recognize any of them. So we let them go to voice mail. I googled the company and phoned them. I was told they have no action against us and that they had received reports of phishing calls using their name. She asked for one of the phone numbers and said it is in the range of numbers for FRS. I finally phoned the number of the ninth message. She said she is collecting for a payday loan someone had taken out in my wife’s name. We have never done a payday loan and we verified our kids haven’t either. She stated that letters had been mailed to us which we ignored. We have not received such letters. I asked if she would mail another with the details but she declined. I asked for the name of the lender and she rattled off a list of names they purport to use. What’s scary is that she knew my wife’s full name, address, phone number, birthdate and SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. We’re trusting that it is phishing. We haven’t heard from them since.
