I received an email stating: "My firm recently reviewed your resume, but did not have a match within our current clientele. You obviously have plenty of talent to offer, so we will keep your information for future searches that may present an appropriate fit. Have you ever considered getting a search expert to help you generate more job offers? That is NOT something we do, but I am glad to offer you a recommendation to a very reputable firm which provides that service. Please let me know." I said I was interested and he responded: "Since we do not have a placement opportunity for you, at the very least I can offer some helpful resources to make your job search more effective. I do this as a professional courtesy, so there is no obligation on your part whatsoever. Having a quality search expert on your side can definitely help put you strides ahead of others in the competitive job market. Those who truly have your best interest at heart AND possess keen search smarts can aid you in finding better opportunities more rapidly, as well as assisting you to gain the most compensation possible. With that said, my very best recommendation is The Career Advocates (thecareeradvocates.com). If you desire to speed up your search and obtain more job offers, then these are the professionals for you. Their emphasis for you, the job seeker, is to penetrate the ‘hidden job market’. They provide the best expertise to rapidly move a search forward and open the door to a much broader array of opportunities than you would likely encounter on your own. I also really like the fact that they customize their service for each individual. This group is among the very best. If you would like to contact them on your own, my suggestion would be to email Michael Howard at: [email protected] Or, if you prefer, I would be glad to make a warm introduction on your behalf. Just let me know, Mike." I had a phone call with Michael Howard, who said his service involved a retainer fee of $7,500.00. We spoke for almost 45 mins about how he would serve my search needs. He has my Bio and Resume but no other personal info. A little due diligence reveals that both these companies do not appear to exist, their websites seem simplistically built, very similar, lacking any details (established by GoDaddy recently) without reference to any persons and no contact info whatsoever. They think I am game to go forward and I have not told them I suspect anything.
