I was searching for discounted flights on cheapflights.com when Foggyfly was an option to compare flights. They offered $194 for a roundtrip from DCA to SAT with Delta Airlines. After I entered personal information (phone, email address, home address, credit card number) I received a booking reservation email with a reference number. It listed the flights I had chosen but stated that a confirmation email will be sent once the booking is confirmed. "Please note that your purchase will be completed only when the ticket has been issued. Fares are not guaranteed until ticketed." It also stated that if I did not receive a call or email within 24 hours for payment verification, I would need to call them. I got a call from 305-564-2373 and voice message from "William with Foggyfly" at 10:45p ET but I was asleep, so I returned the call the next day. That's when a man on the phone said that the reason William called last night was to tell me that my return flight was booked as standby only, and that if I wanted a firm booking, I would have to change the flight. He offered an American Airlines flight that would cost $254 more because it included one carry-on and one personal item. He said the previous Delta Airlines flights I was booked did not allow me to carry ANY bags, not even a purse and that I would not be able to purchase one at the airport. That's when things clicked for me that this was a scam. I corrected him and the man finally conceded that I could bring a personal item, but that I was still on standby. I told him to cancel the entire trip then. He said changes and refunds are not allowed. I yelled at him saying that we are in conversation to change the flights, which is the definition of changes. Then I accused them of being a scam. He denied it. "I can assure you, ma'am that we are not a scam." I told him to leave my flights as is, standby and all. He said fine but nothing else, so I hung up. I never received another email. My credit card had not been charged yet, so I locked it within a couple hours after that phone call. I reached out to Delta Airlines the next day to see if I was ever booked for those flights and they confirmed that I was not. I also checked Delta's flight confirmation tool using my credit card number and they had not charged my card, either. Foggyfly's "reservation desk" called me next the day from 305-564-2364 but I refused to answer. The voice message said they are calling about "the flight that you have with us" and to "call back on the same number, extension 413." I am not. I am going to cancel my credit card and refuse to engage.
