I received the exact same letter in the mail that is listed as a PUBLISHERS CLEARING HOUSE scam in your file with the exception of the phone number listed to call. I looked up the address on the check first to see if it was legit before deciding to call the number listed in the letter. Thankfully, I saw the BBB scam alert for this company so I didn't need to call the number. The date on the letter is October 7th, 2024. The date on the check is 10/03/2024. Check No: 910158. Top of the check BRIDGECREST ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION ATTN: ACCOUNTS PAYABLE. And then their address. It has Wells Fargo Bank N.A. printed at the top. The amount on the check is $9500.50. The signature looks like Steph for first name. The last name is illegible. The letter has Walmart, JCPenney, AG Insurance, Mega Millions and Readers Digest logo's printed on it. The letter also has a picture of a check with the check amount being $2,500,000.00. The letter states I won this amount. The actual check for $9500.50, the letter states, is to be used to cover insurance and attorney fees. The letter says the team at Publishers Clearing House is pleased to officially announce you as the second Place winner in the 100 Million Dollars Super Cash Giveaway Promotion sponsored by Readers Digest, Mega Millions and Multi-State Lottery Association. I read the letter carefully and noticed several errors in their grammer. That was my first clue this was a scam. These scammers are getting better at the letters their sending out trying to make them look legit. BE CAREFUL! IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS!!!
