This was an interview for an alleged job based out of Manhattan for a position as an automation and functional test engineer. They contacted my husband via email to set up a video interview. They asked the normal question in the interview about yourself, schooling, experience, what you'd bring to the team, etc. The interviewer shared details of the position, including that it was fully remote position, salary of $120,000, benefits, etc and that if they proceeded he would hear in 4-5 business days for setting up a technical interview. The interviewer stressed that my husband would need a MANDATORY certification, detailing that it wouldn't take long to acquire. He neglected to share that it would have to be purchased. This certification was called lean Six Sigma & RPA Dynamics. When searching both those items at once, only TWO sites come up: HRDcertifications.com and HRDskills.com. Both sites flaunted sales ending today, creating a sense of urgency to buy now and save, coupled with the potential job opportunity. My husband attempted to call the phone number and got the following message from Verizon wireless: "welcome to Verizon wireless. your call cannot be completed as the called party is temporarily unavailable." Had this been a legitimate employer, a voicemail would be set up. They are clearly preying on individuals that are out of work and highly motivated to find another job to provide for themselves/families. My husband was laid off and that is reflected in his resume since it says date-date, rather than date-present for his most recent employer, so it can be deduced that he currently does not have an income. They know that anyone unemployed would be quick to jump on any opportunity to gain employment, even if it meant "investing" in more learning.
