I only conversed with the "company" over email and Zoom chat. I supposedly spoke with David Bolleter, the Hiring Manager for Devlane over Zoom chat. The organization is supposedly based in Montevideo, Uruguay with an office in San Francisco, California. They offered me a job with an offer letter that looked legit. They sent a check via email for $4250.00 that I believe now to be fraudulent. They wanted me to purchase "working materials" using my own funds before the check even had a chance to clear. In the process of attempting to pay their vendor $175 for a partial fee for the working materials, I lost $50 and overdrew my account. After several attempts to speak with someone from Devlane over video and being told their company policy is to not have employees speak with newbies, I asked them to cancel the check and withdraw my accepted offer letter.
