This was a puppy scam. Through a facebook post, we contacted the scammer and made arrangements to purchase and ship a german shorthaired pointer. Ownership transfer papers were emailed and signed on 1/13/24. Emails seemed to be from a valid email address and had great detail about the puppy. A deposit was requested of $450, and was paid. Then days later the remaining balance of $500 was paid, which included shipping. Through more email correspondence it was determined an additional $100 would be paid for door to door shipping and the inclusion of toys and a blanket. On shipping day, 1/23/24, I was contacted by the breeder stating that they had dropped the puppy at the "agency" and it would be shipped. Shortly after I received a confirmation email from the "agency" using the following email: Century Shippers, [email protected], confirming. Shortly thereafter I received a phone call from "customer service" using number 970-279-3098 Century Shipper, stating that I needed to rent a climate controlled kennel. I received an email with my two choices, that could be rented for $1855 and $1817 would be refunded or $990 and $970 would be refunded. I also contacted the breeder about this. Eventually the $990 was paid. On the morning of 1/24/24 a call was received from Century Shipper, same phone number, stating they only had the expensive kennel, so I sent the additional money. Shortly thereafter, I received a shipping confirmation that the puppy was registered; later I received a shipping notice that the puppy was "in transit." Hours later, I received an email stating that "Urgent: FInal Shots Required," that hte puppy would not leave Boise, ID and that vet experts were requiring shots that must be paid in the amount of $890. It was at this point that I contacted my bank and began the fraud paperwork. Century Shipper did try to call again a few times, but I did not take their call. I do have the emails, attachments, and shipping confirmations.
