I received a text message about rescheduling a missed package delivery from “UPS.” The message directed me to a link that was virtually identical to the UPS home page (I later realized the three icons in the top right related to account login and settings that are on the actual ups.com website did not work since this was a fake website) and asked for my zip code. I was then informed that I had to pay a $1.50 redelivery fee and was asked for my credit card number and SSN. I submitted this information and scheduled a redelivery for January 2nd; however, no package was delivered. The current status through the provided link says “On Hold,” but I checked UPS MyChoice and there is no package/tracking number listed that I should be expecting, which led me to believe that this was a scammer who had stolen my personally identifiable information. I have not seen any purchases made on my credit card, but I am concerned that my personal information has been leaked and how else it may have been or will be used.
