I encountered a "clearance sale" announcement on social media (Facebook) I think. It purported to be surplus merchandise from LL Bean. I followed the link and selected a pair of leather boat shoes and a backpack, total cost $54.00. I was suspicious when I never received an order acknowledgement or shipping notices. However, I could not dispute the transaction until the statement was generated. The merchandise was never delivered nor did I received any type of communication from the company. A web search returned no further information about this company. On July 10 or thereabouts, I accessed the statement on the bank's web site and disputed the transaction. I did so and the bank suggested that I file a complaint with the local BBB.
