Description

MHL purported itself to be selling an energy-saving device (ProPowerSave) for Elon Musk. When I clicked on their PayPal link, I was taken to a look-alike PayPal site where the transaction occurred. This site had all of my information just like the actual PayPal site does. On my printed receipt was listed "[email protected]." In order to make the purchase I had to click on a box giving MHL permission to use any of my listed payment options (debit and credit cards) to complete the sale if my preferred payment choice (checking account) did not make payment. This payment was made yesterday and at this point I don't know if the scammers will be able to steal/use my PayPal payment info so have alerted my bank. I will not alert PayPal because I have already gone that route once before concerning another scam and it was a sham: nothing was ever done. As soon as my two purchases clear my bank account I will open a dispute through my bank and also will close my PayPal account permanently. On the BBB website there are a number of angry customers who have been duped by this company in a number of ways, and none of them were able to successfully address the scammers. I phoned MHL's customer service number and never spoke to a person but was put on hold for 28 minutes at 10:00 at night. I highly doubt their Customer Service will ever make an attempt to do what is right and return my funds, but due to their low rating on BBB (1.8), I do expect to recover my funds through my bank's dispute/fraud departments. This company has offices in the UK, US, and one other country - a third world nation. Even though I corrected an error as to my current mailing address to which the goods were to be delivered, on my printed copy is listed an old former address to where their goods will be delivered, if they are sent at all. This company is corrupt and has worked very hard to deceive the public. They have crossed all the t's and dotted all the i's to make sure they lure you into their scam, even creating a lookalike PayPal site. And since the site does have my personal information, maybe PayPal has been hacked or is itself questionable. I'm closing my PP account asap.
