The job website Upwork had a listing for TCK Publishing for a remote proofreader position. After applying, I received an email with a Skype link for an interview. A day after completing the interview, I was emailed a letter of confirmation to accept the job. After signing it and sending it back, I was mailed a $2500 check as reimbursement for work equipment from representative Maria Price (I never received any receipt of purchase or tracking number). A week after I sent Maria Price $2500, the check was voided and an addition $2500 was taken from my bank account. I contacted my interviewer, Arnold Smith, who said that it was a clerical error and to give him my bank account and routing number to get the money back. All communication stopped after that. I have to issue a fraud alert to my bank and have my account changed in order to protect my money.
