Received an email from [email protected] to renew our SAM.gov UEI number for federal grants. Clicked the renewal button within the email, filled out the paperwork and submitted. Then I received an email from [email protected] (Brianne Zechner) to complete registration, called their number and requested an invoice so I could pay by check. Received an invoice and mailed the check. Everything appeared very legitimate, although confusing when you go to the SAM.gov webpage they say everything is 100% free. I called to ask why I was charged, and the person I spoke to said it was their admin fees, but I can also manage my SAM.gov account on my own. I asked for a refund and was told someone will be in touch with me in 36 hours. This website needs to be shut down. They are not forthcoming on their "services" and make it sound as though if you don't pay you won't be able to maintain your UEI number.
