We began receiving calls from several different types of companies all calling themselves "Merchant Services." If we asked for company names, they provided a name, website, and even customized email addresses. The websites were all well made, very polished. Upon further investigation, there is no record of these companies elsewhere, like on the BBB website. When they called, they claimed to be calling on behalf of our payment processing company and needed a copy of our credit card statement to make sure we weren't being overcharged. When pressed for details, they would disconnect the call. I worked for IT for several years before my current position and am experienced at spotting scams. This is a very well constructed scam. When asked for any money-related records, please be very careful, and make sure to look into every company before you share information!
