I received an email from a fake company pretending to be Paypal. The email stated that I had a money request and that someone named Jane Fisher is requesting $500 and it will be taken from my paypal account. It gave me the option to report it as fake or to call the phone number included in the email. I called the number which was 888-809-9289 and some foreigner answered pretending to be Paypal. He asked to me download an app (anydesk.com). I started downloading it and entered some information. He then attempted to tell me to open my browser and another link will open so that I can check my banking info. He stressed that I should only open it from the computer I was using. I realized it was fraud and hung up the phone. I did not check my bank account from his link either. I uninstalled the app (anydesk.com). I immediately checked my account and the funds were not taken. I'm so thankful I acted quickly and realized it was a scam and hung up the phone. At first, it seemed real and I was about to panic that someone was attempting to withdraw money from my Paypal account. I want to help others not to make the same mistake. The email seemed so real but it was fake.
