Share and help us warn others
I am writing to file a formal complaint and warn others about a scam involving an individual impersonating an entrepreneur and advertising a remote administrative assistant position. The individual goes by the name Jason Tripps and uses the email address [email protected] and phone number (213) 935-0504. On August 13, 2025, I responded to a help wanted ad in the newspaper for a hybrid/remote Administrative Assistant. The ad listed a part-time position of 20-25 hours per week for $500 per week. After a brief application process, I was hired with a formal contract offering a salary of $600 a week plus bonuses. Initially, the communication seemed professional. He sent a welcome email from [email protected] and created a signature email for me to use for tasks. He assigned me to email his clients about an annual subscription payment. However, several red flags quickly appeared. The day after I was hired, he claimed he was in the middle of a 10-day FEMA workshop. Shortly after, he claimed he had lost his phone and had to fly to Texas to complete a two-week assignment for FEMA. He then asked me to reschedule appointments for his clients, which I did. When I inquired about my paychecks after two weeks of work, he provided conflicting information. He first claimed the check was mailed on Monday, the day he flew out, but later stated he left on Tuesday. The final and most significant red flag was when he asked me to set up a Google Voice account using his business number. When I attempted to do so, I discovered the number was already linked to a Google Voice account. A quick online search of his phone number revealed that I was not the only one who has been scammed by this individual. This is a clear case of a scammer taking advantage of people seeking employment. I want to formally report this individual to prevent them from defrauding other victims in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely,
NY, USA- 11691
