I looked for someone to do hair braids. I found their page on Facebook with numerous photos and an active page. I contacted them on messenger first, they wanted to correspond in email. I was done with that and we spoke back and forth for a few days on what I wanted to get done. She has a website that seems very legitimate with prices and booking availability. I was instructed to go ahead and make an appointment with what I wanted booked. After that, I was emailed Chime information to make the $65 deposit that went towards the full amount. After that I was told to make another payment of $60 for the hair products to a different Chime account and lastly the remaining $35 for the service to a third Chime account. The total was $160 for the service. Then I received an email with the address for my appointment. I showed up at the salon only to find out there was no such person by the name Mitchell Collins that worked there and that they had several other women being scammed and sent there. I realize I should’ve seen the signs now, but I felt like things seemed good with the website and page being active. Lesson learned for me and I’m hoping others don’t make the same mistake.
