We found a dog breeder on social media that listed a dog we wanted for sale, they also had their own social media page and website. We asked for many descriptions and videos via messenger and were provided those, we thought everything looked great so we proceeded to sign a buying contract (Wolfheart Shibas), which was pretty standard with return policies and such. We paid $500 for the dog and $300 for a transport fee (they claimed to be in TN and we are in WI). We sent “Joyce Dunham” the $800 in two separate Apple Pay transactions. The day of the transport we get a message from the carrier in charge of transporting this dog (Swift Track Logistics) that they need $1000 for a kennel/crating fee for the airline but that 95% of the charge would get refunded back to us upon delivery. Seemed a little suspicious but we were ok knowing the refund would come. The number that was messaging us wasn’t working for Apple Pay so we sent the money to Joyce Dunham again for her to assist and transfer. Shortly after they asked for $1500 insurance, again most of it would be refunded upon delivery. Money was sent to Joyce again. We started getting very uneasy about this all so we called Joyce and she said she’s used this company before and has had good luck, so we believed her. We were given flight details and everything. Then we get another request for $500 for medicine for the dog to travel. This is where we got very suspicious and upset and we started contacting all the numbers that we had been working with. Joyce said she’s used was going to file a complaint and it sounded like she was on our side but then shortly later her number became inoperable. We checked the original Facebook group that we found the dog in and that was deleted, their social media and website for Wolfheart Shibas is still active (as of now). We tried to request $3300 (all the money we sent ) to that number we had for Joyce but Apple Pay said the recipient was invalid.
