Business Name: Wix.com Category: Subscription Service / Website Hosting Issue Type: Breach of Contract, Deceptive Billing, and Service Non-Delivery Description of the Scam: I am reporting Wix.com for deceptive business practices, including unauthorized contract changes, automatic billing without consent, failure to provide paid services, and obstructing service cancellation. I originally subscribed to Wix under a month-to-month plan with the clear understanding I could cancel at any time. Despite explicitly requesting advance notice of renewal, Wix auto-renewed my subscription for a full year and charged my card $320 without any prior warning—right before the holidays. This happened even though I had made my financial situation known as a low-income, disabled parent. Wix refused to offer any accommodation or refund. More recently, a critical paid feature—Wix Analytics—has been nonfunctional for nearly a month. Despite repeated support requests and promises that the issue was “escalated,” there has been no resolution. The earliest possible fix date I was told was August 23, nearly a month away, with no refund or service credit offered. Wix claims that Analytics is a "free" feature, which is misleading—it is essential to website functionality and marketing strategy and is a core reason many customers choose the platform. Additionally, Wix continues to retain control over domain names after a site cancellation period ends, effectively locking users into continued use—or auto-renewal—against their will. Unless a customer has legal representation, Wix’s practices make cancellation extremely difficult and open the door to unauthorized billing. Wix customer support appears designed to delay and deflect. Complaints are “escalated” but never resolved. This is not an isolated issue—numerous one-star reviews across multiple platforms echo the same experiences: bait-and-switch billing, lack of customer support, and withholding of services. These practices amount to systemic deception and financial exploitation. Wix’s actions reflect a clear breach of contract and disregard for consumer protections. Desired Outcome: Refund for period of non-functioning analytics Assurance of no future unauthorized renewals Option to cancel without penalty Public accountability for deceptive billing practices
