I bought a house last November. I got a fake check-looking envelope in the mail that had me peel the sides and stated it was the last attempt and listed my mortgage lender. It didn't state matters at hand but tried to make it look like it was from my lender. The number I had to call was 1-888-801-8190....the guy kept telling me the state of PA was going to fine me if I didn't have a warranty and that the state was giving a $200 credit to get one. He was pressuring me to pay $295 upfront and $253.00 over 18 months, then get 18 months for free. SCAM!!! When I said I'd look into it and call them back he chuckled and said they only have so long to do it and usually have to secure the payment during the phone call.
